What is Physical Quantity?

A physical quantity is a physical property of a material or system

that can be quantified by measurement.

A physical quantity possesses at least two characteristics in

common.

Numerical magnitude.
Units

For example, the physical quantity of length can be quantified as ‘100

cm ', where ‘100' is the numerical value and ‘cm' is the Unit.

What is Measurement?

Measurement is a process of determining how large or small a physical

quantity is as compared to a basic reference quantity of the same kind.

Measurement is the quantification of a physical quantity

Dimensions and units
Mechanics is the branch of physics in which the basic physical units are
developed.

The laws of physics are expressed in terms of basic quantities.

In mechanics, the three basic quantities are Length (L), Mass (M),
and Time (T).
All other quantities in mechanics can be expressed in terms of these three.
