Glossary

1.Disk: A flat, round plate on which data can be encoded and


stored. 

2. Format: command that prepares a blank diskette, hard drive


or another drive to hold data.

3. Removable disk: media that enables a user to move data


between computers without having to open their computer.

4. Storage device: any hardware capable of holding information


either temporarily or permanently.

5. Hard drive: a non-volatile data storage device usually installed


internally in a computer, attached to the disk controller of the
computer's motherboard.

6. Hardware: any physical component of a computer system


containing a circuit board or other electronics.

7. Processor: central processing unit of the computer that


handles instructions and receives hardware and software
running on the computer.

8. Motherboard: printed circuit board and foundation of a


computer that is the biggest board in a computer chassis.

9. Input device: any hardware device that sends data to a


computer, allowing to interact with and control it.

10. Output device: any peripheral that receives data from a


computer, usually for display, projection or physical
reproduction.
