Commander:

As a commander, you are a natural born leader, I had a past in being my rugby teams
team captain, and I have often gotten that I am bossy at times. No surprise from there, but the
career path I have currently chosen is hairstylist.
A creative job is an interesting choice for a commander seeing as the ones recommended
are either business or in a position of power. But with more thought I have realized hairstyling is
a great setting for me at the moment. Commanders are highly efficient; they do not appreciate
laziness or being left doing nothing. Hairstyling as a career includes constant work, working with
others as well as making your own decisions. To be a hairstylist you must be a people person,
you are constantly surrounded by people, and you have a client that you need to keep entertained
through your service. I received a good balance of 58% extroverted, meaning I am able to put
myself out there while still having time for myself. Already establishing a career in hairstyling, I
have found there is so much more critical thinking than I imagined, every day is a new challenge
you must adapt your knowledge towards.
As a commander, striving to be the best at what you do can both be toxic and an amazing
work habit. “Failure is not an option,” was mentioned on the website in passing, in my past
experiences with styling, if I found myself with a mistake made, I would blow everything out of
proportion, I wanted to quit the first time I cut someone's hair slightly off. To put it boldly,
commanders are perfectionists, and I find myself hating myself in situations where my abilities
weren't up to my own toxic standards. Hairstyling is both a scary career for a commander and a
perfect one. Their ability to be the best at what they do with their drive can lead to a huge,
satisfied clientele but also can consume their lives when their clients aren't satisfied.
It scares me to say this is accurate to my personality, only because I am afraid to be
overbearing and bossy, but when my mind is in its commander position, I feel as though it is the
best for everyone, especially potential employers. Because I value my work so highly, I feel fear
of letting a client or an employer down. Or friends and family for that matter. The more I read
about this personality trait the more I saw myself in it. The controlling but kind nature I have can
be both intimidating and inspiring.
I have also looked into interior design, and much like hairstyling there is a creative aspect
that includes clients to please. Interior design requires a creative vision as well as attention to
detail. Planning is a huge part of design, sketching the idea and creating a plan then seeing it
come alive. My work in hairstyling has shown me that that part of my job is what I love the
most. Seeing the beginning product compared to the end. With more investigation on interior
design, I feel that could be the perfect job for myself, a creative commander.
