1. I have always been fascinated with commercials and marketing techniques.

This is the
perfect time to compare commercials since the super bowl is coming up and commercials
are partially the only reason I watch. One all-visual commercial that I saw during the
super bowl one year was for an apple watch. What I thought was interesting about this
commercial was that it was somewhat unclear from the beginning what it was advertising
and it sucked me in to watch the entire commercial. The commercial showed different
situations of climate and scenarios and the end showed that the watch was still in one
piece. I bought an apple watch a while back and always think about this commercial
when I bang my watch into a wall or go swimming with it on. This commercial did a
really good job as I still think about it and associate my watch with that commercial.

An all-verbal commercial that comes to mind is for Taco Bell. Taco Bell has been around
my entire life and I will forever remember the sound of the bell at the end and beginning
of the commercial. When I was younger, I had a chihuahua that would say, “yo quiero
taco bell” when I pressed its foot. I had no idea what that meant, as I do not speak
Spanish, but I would say it all the time. I just recently realized what it meant and even
though this saying is not used in commercials anymore, I still remember the way it
sounded. I think Taco Bell has done a really good job at utilizing sound so people
remember.

2. If I were to create a webpage, I would want to have a catchy song, sound, or phrase.
Phrases, numbers, and words are remembered easier when they connect using
mnemonics, which can be used through imagery and combined words. I would want to
have a combination of both sound and imagery. A few examples come to mind, such as
Hersey kisses during Christmas. The commercial is simple and uses a popular Christmas
song and their product to create a catchy and enjoyable sound and image.
