    INSTRUCTION: Determine the following. Check by graphing the results.

    Exercise 1.
    Find the formula that expresses the fact that P (x, y) is the distance 8 from the origin. Describe the set
    of all such points.

    Answer 1: equation of circle, center at origin (0, 0) with radius r=8


    Exercise 2.
    Find all points on the y-axis that are distance 4 from P (3,13)
    Answer 2: (0, 15.65) (0, 10.35)
    Exercise 3.
    Find all points on the x- axis that are distance 12 from P (-4 ,9)

    Answer: (3.94, 0) (-11.94, 0)


    Exercise 4.
    For what values of a is the distance between P (a,5) and Q (7,2a) greater than √36

    Answer: 𝑎1 > 5.39 ; 𝑎2 > 1.41 to get a distance greater than √36
