Let us define ART…

Art /ärt/ noun

All art works are product of both creative and imaginative character of
human beings, a characteristic which is absent from all other living creatures.

• Art is often associated with the visual arts paintings and sculpture.

• Extended to other creative and expressive human activities which include
digital and highly technical creative works like

There is always a need to reconsider the works of the geniuses in their respective period of time.
Etymology

The word “art” is rooted from the 13th century French word which
means skills. The same root of the following words that is equivalent to
Human creativeness:

1. Artificial – made by human beings


2. Inert – having no skill
3. Artisan – instructor or master of a human skill
Different categories of ART

Anthropological – artworks are defined according to the culture or country


they originated, thus we have:
• Pre-historic artworks is highlighted for its archaeological value more that
its aesthetics.
• Tribal Artworks are creative creation of indigenous communities.

their works.

Expressionism – the use of distorted colors for emotional Baroque - easily interpreted detail to produce drama, tension,
effect in order to evoke mood or ideas. exuberance, and grandeur in painting, sculptures etc.
