Career Goals

When I envision my future career as one of Baltimore’s Premier Morticians, there

are many ways that the vision crystallizes in my mind. In all of them, I am the founder of
Baltimore Transitions Afterlife Services, LLC., the only funeral home of its kind because we
are able to provide just about any kind of memorial service one could dream up. The
funeral home itself will be situated on a private acre of green space, that offers a man-made
lake. It will include the option for wedding style canopies, catering and live music. By
offering a true “Celebration of Life” service, those who do not wish for their relatives to
weep during a sad ceremony can gather more lightheartedly. There will be pew style
seating indoors for those who prefer a more intimate affair. I will offer Aquamation, or
water cremation, a greener and more cost effective alterative to traditional burial, as well as
customary crematory services. Of course, my business will offer conventional burial and will
travel to churches or other establishments to perform funeral services upon request. We
will offer Extreme Embalming, bringing comfort to families in a way that allows the
deceased to be honored for their true character and the activities they loved in life. I want
to specialize in Restorative Art, so that people who lose their lives tragically, can be
remembered in a way that captures their true likeness. I see myself standing on stages and
speaking to crowded amphitheaters, explaining that the most touching way to honor those
we’ve lost is to live life according to our own purpose. I want to convince survivors that they
owe a debt of intentional living so that their loved one did not die in vain. I want to offer an
opportunity for the living to consider using their pain for a higher calling. I want to inspire
family members to forgive each other, especially in instances where people grieve
differently. I want to help people to discover that there is no benefit in being angry on
behalf of the deceased. I see myself signing copies of books I’ve written about coping with
loss and encouraging families to plan their final memorial, and then plan every moment in
between. If I can bear witness to the layers of healing and facilitate a better mourning, I will
have accomplished my career goal.
