Heat transfe
heat transfer, any or all of several kinds of phenomena,
considered as mechanisms, that convey energy and
entropy from one location to another. The specific
mechanisms are usually referred to as convection, thermal
radiation, and conduction

RADIATION

Radiation is energy that

comes from a source and
travels through space at the
speed of light. This energy
has an electric field and a
magnetic field associated
with it, and has wave-like
properties. You could also
call radiation
“electromagnetic waves”.
CONVECTION

convection, process by
which heat is transferred
by movement of a heated
fluid such as air or water.
... Forced convection
involves the transport of
fluid by methods other
than that resulting from
variation of density with
temperature. Movement
of air by a fan or of water
by a pump are examples
of forced convection.
CONDUCTION

Conduction is the process by
which heat energy is
transmitted through collisions
between neighboring atoms or
molecules. ... These vibrating
molecules collide with their
neighboring molecules, making
them also vibrate faster. As
these molecules collide,
thermal energy is transferred
via conduction to the rest of the
pan.
TIME LAG OF DIFFERENT
MATERIALS
Thermal lag is the delay of heat
transmitted through a wall. It's a
measurement of the ability of walling
material to slowly absorb and release
heat energy. ... While insulation will
stop heat, brick stores heat from
sunlight during the day and releases
it during winter evening hours.
