Afier reviewing your Podcast and social media platforms reasonably available to, and located by me, we did not find sufficient evidence to establish a violation of any policics. Please be aware that this notice, however, is not to be construed as an exhaustive finding that you have not at any time engaged in conduct violative of applicable policy or rendered you unfit for duty. However, the posts, podcasts, and so forth found and considered in our investigation likely offensive to protected classes and could raise reasonable concems regarding your objectivity inthe performance of your job duties when a member, or suspected, member of the LGBTQ+ ‘community is involved. Please understand that the City of Port Wentworth respects your right to express yourself so long as such expression is not otherwise unlawful or impair your ability to fully perform your job duties as a police officer. As we have discussed previously, please be reminded that if any post on any of your social media platforms, or any other statement or action, renders you unable to perform, and to be seen as able to perform, your job in a fair and equitable manner, you could be terminated. At all times you need to be able to perform your duties as a sworn police officer impartially and to be perceived by the public as capable of doing so. In no way is this tell you that you do not have a right to your beliefs. I am just making you aware that as a swom police officer you must always be able to perform your job without any hesitations and impartially and must be perceived by those we serve as doing so. As you are also aware itis legal to have same sex marriages in the state of Georgia. Same-sex marriage in Georgia has been legal since the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges on June 26, 2015. Officer Kersey the intent of this notification and waming is to educate you on what will and will not be tolerated as an employee of this City.
