museum, media and publishing”

Metadata

 is important because it allows you to organize your data in a way that is meaningful to
you and makes it easier to find the information you are looking for.

Libraries

 Metadata are used to facilitate and support resource discovery, identification, the
organization of resources, and the exchangeability of the data itself as well as the
exchangeability of the resource or resources it represents.

Museum

 Use metadata standards to assist them with collections documentation, management and
resource discovery.

Media

 Provides a way of finding, identifying and classifying content—through the use of

specific taxonomies that dictate the tagging to be used, content curators can organize their
work.

Publishing

 Metadata publishing is the process of making metadata data elements available to

external users, both people and machines using a formal review process and a
commitment to change control processes.
