What Is It?

• It is the text that tells a story, mainly used to

entertain, motivate, or teach.
• The aims of this kind of text is to get attention
and maintain interest.

Language Feature of Narrative Text
Past tense = V2 (killed, drunk, etc)

Action verbs. A verb that shows an action. (killed, dug, walked,

etc)

Adverb of time (Once upun a time, one day, etc)

Time conjunction (when, then, suddenly, etc)

Specific character. The character of the story is specific, not

general. (Cinderella, Snow White, Alibaba, etc)

Direct speech. It is to make the story lively. (Snow White

said,”My name is Snow White). The direct speech uses present
tense.

Expressing an activity or situation began
and ended at a particular time in the past.
Past Simple
Example:
I finished my assignment yesterday.
Expressing the idea that a time in the past
