Uniform Corrosion
It is the most common type of corrosion as it
occurs naturally when carbon steel deteriorates
through a chemical reaction with the
environment causing the entire surface to
corrode.
Localized Corrosion
Pitting Corrosion
Crevice Corrosion
It is a form of localized corrosion on a
physically occluded area at a particular
location on the metal surface where a
crevice is.
Filiform Corrosion
Galvanic Corrosion
Environmental Corrosion
Flow-Assisted Corrosion
It occurs when a protective layer of a metal
eroded by gas or water which then exposes
the underlying metal to chemical or
mechanical corrosion.
Fretting Corrosion
It occurs at the interface of two contacting
surfaces due to small oscillatory motion
between them in which a corrosive material
is present.
Soil Corrosion
It occurs when a material is exposed to
moisture and oxygen in the surrounding soil
which have high moisture content, high
electrical conductivity, high acidity, and
high dissolved salts.
