Citizens Trade Campaign

Norms of our global economy must ensure that global standards for labor,

developing countries, and public health, are all enhanced, as is the environment. It

is time to abolish Fast Track and replace it with a framework that guarantees the

government will choose and pursue future trade agreements with a stronger and more

informed voice. Fast Track must be replaced with a system that considers factors

such as an examination of potential nations' civil society, labor rights, and

environmental standards to choose the best negotiating partners. Instead of

rewarding companies that keep valuable jobs in the nation, we should discontinue

offering tax breaks to those that offshore Filipino jobs. The current trade agreement

measures need to be actively enforced to defend both domestic and international

worker interests.
