Guidelines

For Organization Study/ Professional Internship

Report of

III Semester M.Com., M.Com. (F & A) and M.Com. (IB)

2022 - 2023

GUIDELINES

Step 1 - Select an organization of your choice based on your domain preference, for
example:
 Audit, Tax and Accounting – KPMG, Deloitte, EY, PwC etc.,
 Finance and Banking – HDFC, ICCICI Prudential, J M Financial, India Bulls, DSP
Black Rock MF, J P Morgan, HSBC, SBI, Standard Chartered, etc.,
 Insurance – Aegon, LIC, Birla Sun Life, Bharti AXA etc.,
 Logistics and SCM – Gati Ltd., Adani Logistics, DHL Express India, Blue Dart etc.,
 Marketing and HR – Coca Cola, Cadbury, Unilever, Google, Microsoft, etc.,
 Export – Rajesh Exports, Arvind Mills, Sun Pharma, Hindalco, Reliance Industries,
Tata Steel, Mahindra and Mahindra, Vardhaman Textiles, Kiran Gems Pvt. Ltd etc.
Note: The Internship can be in a MNC, MSME, Educational Institution or any other type of
organization, there’ll be no restriction, discuss the feasibility with the faculty guide.

Step 2 – Identify a problem area in the organization, gather primary and secondary
information from the organization and digital sources as per the requirement (refer point
no. 2.4) and make an effort to find a solution and contribute to the organization.

Step 3 – Organize the content as per the report specifics (refer point no. 1 and 2) in
discussion with the faculty guide.
Note: Weekly report - work done status has to be updated to the faculty guide and take
their signature.

Step 4 –Submit the report to the College

The sequence in which the Organization Study/ Internship report to be prepared is as
follows:

a) Cover Page and Title Page


b) Certificate from the external agency (wherever the Internship has been undertaken
in an external institution / organization)
c) Certificate of Originality (Signed by the Director and Guide)
d) Declaration by student
e) Acknowledgement
f) Abstract
g) Table of Content

j) List of Symbols, Abbreviations and Nomenclatures
k) Chapters

2. Format for the Report


2.1 Cover Page & Title Page – A specimen copy of the Cover page and Title page
of the report are given in Appendix 1.

2.2 Certificates – Company Certificate, Certificate of Originality (Appendix 2) and


Declaration by Student (Appendix 3)

2.3 Abstract – Abstract / Synopsis not exceeding 500 words

2.4 Table of Contents –

Chapter 2: Industry Analysis:
 Industry Profile/ background

Chapter 4: Functional areas of the company


Visit all the departments of the organization and map the process of their
functioning. The departments vary in manufacturing and service organizations and
the departments could be as follows:
 Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Quality, Logistics, Research and
Development, Customer Success, and any other department.
 Do focus on the Organizational Performance aspects such as Sales development,
System of accounting followed, significant factors for success, financial highlights,
HR systems, Quality Management System etc.

Chapter 5: SWOC Analysis of the organization


 Identify the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Challenges of the
organization
 Identify Key result areas of the organization.

Chapter 6: Findings, Suggestions, Learning Experience and Conclusion


 Highlight the findings
 Suggestions for issues
 Recommend future plans for growth of the organization and Sustainability
 Learning Experience
 Conclusion

2.5 Figures, Tables, Equations and Cross references (if any)


The word ‘table’, means the tabulated numerical data in the body of the report as well in
the appendices. All other non-verbal materials used in the body of the work and

appendices such as charts, graphs, maps, photographs and diagrams may be named as
figures.

Below each figure, the figure number must be typed in bold with Times New Roman font
and font size 12. Figure number is of three fields. In the first field, figure should be typed,
second field indicates the chapter number and third field indicates the article number
(Eg:- 1. Figure (3.2) represents third chapter, second article)

2.6 For Tables (example Table [3.2] represents third chapter second article)
Note - Equations- Standard mathematical symbols should be used and each
equation used should be sequentially numbered in the same format as Fig/Table
number. Equation number should be enclosed using small bracket.

2.7 List of Symbols, Abbreviations and Nomenclature – One and a half spacing should
be adopted for typing the matter under this head. Standard symbols, abbreviations etc.
should be used and arranged in alphabetical order, caps followed by small case, followed
by Greek letters.

2.8 Chapters – Each chapters may be arranged sequentially in three parts, viz.,
(i) Introductory chapter (ii) Chapters developing the main theme of the study work
(iii) and Conclusions. Each chapter on main theme of the study may be divided into
several divisions and sub-divisions with proper numbering.

2.9 Appendices –Appendices should be numbered using Arabic numerals, e.g.


Appendix 1, Appendix 2, etc.

2.10 List of references / bibliography – The listing of reference should be typed


spaces below the heading “REFERENCES / BIBLOGRAPHY” in the order in which the
reference / bibliography appears in the text, single spacing left – justified. A typical
illustrative list given below:

3. Number of pages and Number of Copies- Maximum number of pages of the report
shall be around 80 pages and minimum shall be around 50 pages. The number of copies of
the report to be made as follows:
Hard Copy – 2 copies (One for college and student copy)
Soft copy – 01 for the college

4. Typing Instructions

The impression on the typed copies should be black in colour.

 Margins – left 1.75”, right, top and bottom 1”, with justification

5. Page Dimension and Binding Specifications


The report should be in A4 size, should be bound using flexible cover of thick art paper
with Blue colour. The cover should be printed in black letters.
