About This Conversion

Tales from the Rusty Dragon The inclusion of new rules elements for each Pathfinder
adventure path presents a new sort of conversion opportunity,
beyond merely tailoring each adventure's encounters to the
presents new edition. Player character options unique to the campaign
setting or the adventure path help establish PCs in that setting,
increasing their investment in the game and their willingness to
immerse themselves in the setting.

THE PATHFINDER I originally converted the Rise of the Runelords Player's


Guide when I set out to run the adventure path in 4 th Edition.
While I quickly became comfortable with the creation or

4E PROJECT modification of monsters and encounter design, the adventure


path provided few chances to practice designing new rules
elements. I've since familiarized myself with the core tenets of
4th Edition design, and some invaluable assistance from the

community helped me put together a package of Pathfinder-
specific PC options: domains, divinity feats, equipment, and
backgrounds.

Converting a second adventure path has allowed me to


CHARACTER ELEMENTS expand that package, and many rules elements are shared at
the level of the campaign setting, not the individual adventure
paths. To that end, I've put together this document containing
all the options converted from the Rise of the Runelords and
Curse of the Crimson Throne adventure paths. I encourage you
to allow your players to make use of these choices so that they
