International Roaming – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I activate an International Roaming pack from an international roaming location?


A) Yes, you can activate an International Roaming pack from an overseas location via the following options :
- MyVodafone App or www.vodafone.in/ir
- Calling up the call center (toll free from an international location)
Your international roaming service needs to be active though. Applicable charges would apply on data usage.

2) Can I select any network and avail the discount benefits when I travel overseas?
A) We recommend that you restart your phone once your pack has been activated, especially if you are already
overseas. You should automatically connect to our preferred partner operators for the best services &
experience.

3) What is the TAT for activation of the International Roaming packs?


A) The TAT is 30 mins.

4) Who do I reach out to for any assistance while roaming internationally?


A) You can call your state's Vodafone customer care number for any assistance on International roaming. When
you are on International Roaming, all calls made to the customer care are free of cost. List of customer care

5) What is the “Always On” feature in i-RoamFREE packs?


A) Always On feature secures you when your 7, 10 or 28 day pack validity expires and you are still abroad. With
the Always On feature, you can continue using your number only for Rs.599/day only when you do any usage
i.e. voice calls, data usage or SMS. Also, the Always On feature will only work whenever you are abroad and
no charges will be levied when you are in India.

6) Will I be charged when calling to other countries when I am abroad?


A) If you have taken a pack, calling back to India or within the local country for which you have taken the
roaming pack would not be charged (if within the benefits quota). However, calling to other countries or rest
of the world would be charged at Rs.35/min.

Note:

 All pack activations will be basis Indian Standard Time (IST)


 Benefits of the IR packs will be applicable till 23:59 hrs IST of the day from the time of activation. i.e. date/s you
choose the pack for

- For e.g. i-RoamFREE 7 day pack - If you requested for i-RoamFREE pack at 15:00 hrs IST on the 1st of Aug, you
start availing pack benefits immediately on receipt of the activation confirmation SMS (approx. 30 mins after
request). Benefits will be applicable till 23:59 hrs IST on the 7th of Aug. Post 7th Aug, if you are still in one of
the 77 countries, and without a pack, the ‘Always On’ feature will get activated
 If you are in UAE (1.5 Hrs. behind IST) & opting for a 7 day validity IR pack on 1st Aug 20:00 Hrs. UAE
time. (21:30 Hrs. IST)….example
 Expiry date of pack will be 7th Aug 22:29:59 UAE time (23:59:59 IST), if you are is still in UAE, you will
get discount up to 22:29:59 Hrs. UAE local time
 For activation of International Roaming packs, International Roaming (IR) service activation is mandatory.
 International Roaming pack benefits are not applicable for premium rate numbers / special codes / Maritime /
Satellite / Ship Cruise or Inmarsat. Calls to premium rate numbers or special numbers / special codes / Maritime /
Satellite / Ship Cruise or Inmarsat will be charged at the rates charged by the visited network.
 If you are an iPhone or iPad user, then the APN settings need to be manually changed. For you to be able to use
the iPhone or iPad device while roaming Nationally or Internationally, you would need to manually change the
APN settings in your device to “IPHONE” instead of “WWW”. The path to change the settings manually is as
follows.
Settings --> APN --> IPHONE
 All charges mentioned are exclusive of service tax
 Additional PDP charges may apply with some operators. Note that this charge appears against 0 KB usage in bill
 All GPRS (Vodafone live! / Vodafone Mobile Connect / Blackberry) usage at 10KB pulse
 International roaming deposit mentioned is a standard charge. However, based on the discretion of Vodafone
credit services, additional deposits may be payable
 Please allow 2 hours for processing your roaming subscription request
 Prices are subject to change without notice
 Prices are indicative only and are subject to foreign exchange fluctuation
 The incoming caller number will be passed on to the customer subject to availability of the same from the other
service provider
 Missed calls and disconnecting a call without answering it will be chargeable on AT&T USA, T-Mobile USA and
Claro Chile as per International Roaming tariffs
 Calls flowing to voicemail or any answering machine will be chargeable on Hutchison, Hong Kong as per
International Roaming tariffs
 Singapore / Taiwan / New Zealand / Australia / Antigua & Barbuda : Please ensure your Preferred Network Type
is set to 3G/4G in your handset settings while roaming in these countries
 You will need a 3G phone to roam on 3G networks - especially in countries like Japan & Korea which do not have
any alternative GSM network
For customers travelling to China, please note : China Mobile supports TD SCDMA 3G frequency. To know handset
compatibility for this frequency, please check the relevant handset manufacturer website for the same. In case, your
handset does not support 3G frequency of China Mobile, please use 2G network on the China Mobile network :
3G : TD-SCDMA: 1880-1900MHz /2010-2025MHz
4G : TD-LTE: 1880 -1900 MHz、2320-2370 MHz、2575-2635 MHz(Bands:39、Bands:40、Bands:41)

Unable to select IR – Manual Network Selection

 Select Vodafone Services from the SIM menu


 Select International Roaming
 Select International. Allow SIM action? Select Yes
 Phone will restart and select the international network manually
OR

 If you do not receive any network whilst roaming or you receive fluctuating network bars, in that case you can
select the network manually.
 The manual settings option can be found in the handset menu in SETTINGS – NETWORK SETTINGS
