Right to freedom of religion Script

Pradanya(Narrator)- good morning everyone today we group 4 going to

present a skit on our topic right to freedom of religion

Freedom of religion or belief is one of the fundamental human rights. It

includes the freedom to adopt or change a religion or belief

Characters:-
Nishu- Rishi
Avishi- Leah
Avani- Dad
Shruti- Mom
Maitheka- Judge
Pradanya- Lawyer

SCENE – 1
Gitika(Narrator)- Leah and Rishi, a couple who had been together for over
4 years, finally got married with the blessings of Leah’s supportive parents
and Rishi’s reluctant parents. During the marriage ceremony, Rishi thought
and decided that he wished to convert to Christianity.

Pradanya(Narrator) -Soon after, Rishi returns to his parent’s home, this

time to introduce Leah as his new wife and deliver important news about
his decision.

Nishu(Rishi)- hey mom and dad it's been a while.

Shruti(Mom)- rishi beta! how have you been we have missed you dearly

Avani(Dad)- finally my brave son

Nishu(Rishi)- I’ve been well, and so has Leah [Leah smiles] I actually wanted
to tell you something important.

Shruti(Mom)- We’re so glad to hear that! And what is it that you want to tell
us?

Nishu(Rishi)- After our marriage ceremony was complete, I decided that I’d
like to change my religion to Christianity.

Shruti(Mom) and Avani(Dad)- what, what are you saying!?

Avani(Dad) - you have betrayed our god! This is outrageous!!

Nishu(Rishi)- no, father. God is one; he just has countless names. I have
just decided to follow a different one, for the sake of mine and Leah’s
happiness.

Shruti(Mom)- it must be because of her! How could you force my child into
this?

Avishi(Leah)- no mother, I did not ask rishi to do this.

Avishi(Leah)- I would never force him to do something he doesn't approve

of.

Nishu(Rishi)- yes, mom. She’s right. I did it of my own free will.

Avani(Dad)- No! We’ll take you to court for this! How dare you!

Gitika(Narrator)- Rishi, and Leah were upset by how his parents were
behaving over this matter. They were dead set on making it out to be
Leah’s fault when it wasn’t. The four of them went to a district court to
take the issue to a legal level.

Maitheka(Judge)- This court session is held for case number 24 of the XX

district. Where Leah Williams is accused of forcing Rishi Aggrawal into
converting his religion to Christianity. Mr. and Mrs. Aggrawal are the ones
accusing her of this crime.

[ Judge bangs his gavel on the table and the session starts. ]

Avishi(Leah)- I, Leah Williams, will be representing myself against this

unfair accusation.

Pradanya(Lawyer)- I will be representing Mr. and Mrs. Aggrawal.

Judge- First party, give your opening statement.

Avishi(Leah)- Your honor, Rishi Aggrawal has agreed that he converted

from his own free will and no outside force. This session is a waste of
everyone’s time.

Pradanya(Lawyer)- Objection your honor! She must’ve forced her husband

in some way.

Avishi(Leah)- we can call Mr. Rishi Aggrawal as a witness.

[ Rishi is called forward. ]

Nishu(Rishi)- Yes, I agree that it was my own free will and nothing else. This
is a false accusation.

Maitheka(Judge)- Mr. and Mrs. Aggrawal you have dishonored the

courtroom with misleading and false accusations. If ms. Leah Williams
wishes so, you will be fined for this.

[ Leah doesn’t press charges and the Judge has one last thing to say ]

Maitheka(Judge)- You must understand. Under Article 25, every individual

has the right to freedom of conscience and free profession, practice, and
propagation of religion. You can simply push religion on others, it is a very
punishable offense. Even if it is your child, he is an adult and can make
decisions for himself, do not bind him down because of religious
differences. That is your moral.

 [SCENE - 2]
Avani(Narrator)- scene 2 is about a college, christian university which has
a majority of christians.

Pradanya(Narrator) - students of different religions are forced to follow

christianity in the university.

Gitika(Narrator)- Maitri is a nineteen year old girl who is new in the

university.
She is not aware of the customs practiced in the university.
She sailed from a small town from Rajasthan .

Pradanya(Narrator)– three popular girls are behind Maitri as they don't

like Maitri because of her religion.

Shruti-Eve
Nishu-Danica
Avishi-Cora

[MAITRI IS PASSING BY THESE GIRLS]

[DANICA BLOCKS HER WAY]

Eve- Look her clothes are so shabby

Cora- and her hair is too oily .

Danica- She definitely doesn’t belong among us.

Cora - OH ! eww WHICH STATE U CAME FROM?

Maitri-I come from Adoor .

Eve- in which part of country it is

Maitri- its a town in rajasthan

[All the three(Shruti,Nishu,Avishi)]- eww, town??

Danica - so basically u are a small town girl in this prestigious university

Cora- guys i think most them in that area are jain

Maitri- yes, and i am one of them

Eve- u….u…u are a jain !

One of the girls pushed Maitri back by her shoulder and went ignoring
her.

Gitika - these girls first commented on maitri's looks and the town from
where she came and did not like her religion.

Padanya- after some days these three girls again bumped into Maitri
in the cafeteria. Maitri was reading a book in the cafeteria peacefully
but eve snatched her book away and

Cora - Bruhh.. Look at her clothes.

Danica- can't help dude because from the religion she comes from has
these types of clothes and people only

Eve- oh so sad... Poor girl

[Maitri replied to them in a commanding voice(avani)]

Maitri- listen, u don't have the right to comment on me and my religion

From the very first day, u are commenting on me
Do you guys have some problem with me?

Cora- no not with u but with ur religion

Maitri- what
Danica- yep she's right
Eve- do u know what, u don't deserve to be here

[all three started laughing]

Maitri-shame on you people, how could you? Judge a person based on

their religion?

Danica- how dare u talk to us like that

Maitri- I can

[Eve holds her hand and drags her ..]

Avani-
