St. Felicity was a mother of seven sons who were all devoted Christians. When summoned by the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, she refused to renounce her faith in favor of paganism. As a result, her sons were prosecuted and killed one by one in front of her until finally it was her turn. St. Felicity and her sons' willingness to die for their faith increased curiosity about Christianity and significantly grew the number of believers.

Felicity is a mother of seven sons who all devoted their lives to
Christianity and firmly stood with their faith in the hands of adversity. Under the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, she was summoned before the Prefect of Rome to be given a chance to renounce her faith in favor of paganism. With a resolution, she rejected the offer. As for her condition, she pressed the judge never to let her die before her sons so she could ensure they stayed true to their faith until their demise. As a result, her sons were prosecuted and sentenced to death one by one, and she witnessed their unfortunate end. Like their pious mother, each of the sons never faltered when they faced death, for they offered their lives to Christ. It is unclear how each son died, but it was said to be horrendous. When all of them were dead, it was now Felicitas’ turn. The Romans became increasingly curious about Christianity and why the believers were more willing to offer their lives to God than renounce their faith. Her examples impacted the Christian world and brought a significant increase in believers who now turned to Christ for their steadfast faith. St. Felicitas was canonized during the pre- Congregation. She is the patron saint of courage. Her feast day is celebrated on January 25th.
