Direction: Please review our previous lesson about Contemporary Artist Who
Use Indigenous Materials (Luzon), and answer the following questions. (Long
bond paper)

1. Compare two (or more) artists’ work, illustrating how they address a
similar issue, or work within a similar medium or style in different ways.
Like for instance, how do two different painters deal with issues of
Society?

The "Music Man of Samar" is the moniker given to Jose Gomez. He is considered to be
the most productive composer of Samar songs. His interest in music started when he
was a child having parents that are musically inclined. During the war, he tragically lost
his three sisters and a number of his band members in the hands of the Japanese. This
inspired him to compose "In the Wink of an Eye," a tribute to his lost siblings.The war
also moved him to write a song about the sweet potato, entitled "Ang Kamote" which
was essential to the survival of many families during the war.

Joey Ayala is one of the most successful composers and musicians that hails from
Mindanao. He is one of the few who was able to make a mark in an industry filled with
pop balladeers from Manila. His contribution to Philippine music cannot be denied, as
he is one of the few contemporary musicians that bring to light the beauty of the sound
of traditional instruments and at the same time bring awareness to the ills of society.
The different artist deals with issues in the society in the way of showing their
experiences in making music that deals with their life experiences. Their experiences
makes them more famous in the music industry.

2. Write an analysis of an individual artwork you think is interesting or

import. Why is it interesting or important? How does it fit into art
history? What does it say about the artist, or what does it say about
society?

The artwork we think that is interesting is the Kabataang Silay Rondalla

Ensemble(KSE) ,it’s interesting because in our 17 years here on Silay ,we only
know it now.Silay City is known as one of the country wealthy in heritage
houses and culture,we can see the Silay Kabataang Ensemble can help the
fellow youth of Silay city to learn and help them to recognize their talents.It
can help our fellow youth to be socially active .
