Why You Think

You're Ugly

BEAUTY IS NOT SOMETHING
THAT CAN BE STANDARDIZED

Attractiveness is consistently seen through a single

lens. Today if you search for the word “beauty,” you
will end up with a sea of fair-skinned, thin, young
women as if good looks don't come in any other
form. So when we have those ideas in our minds, we
really start to think that we are ugly.
When we see someone who is beautiful,
rich, they fall in love, happy and even
successful then we think we can also
get that if we are also beautiful like
her. We start to think that we are not
enough, that we have many
shortcomings. It causes us to close
opportunities for ourselves because we
feel as though we don't belong and
that we don't deserve it and what's
worse, we prolong our lack of self-
confidence
When women start a business, take
an office, take over the world, we are
still essentially relegated to the idea
that our beauty and appearance are
of utmost importance. Everyone has
their own beauty, and when you don't
have something similar to that person
then you can't say you're not
beautiful
Any style will not prevent us from doing activities,
whether it's braids in the hair, tock tutu when on
the tennis court, or even a colorful suit. And while
the world is becoming more interconnected than
ever, we see that global beauty standards are fast
becoming Western beauty standards, so much so
that in countries like South Africa or China, where
the population is mostly people of color. , white
women are still at the forefront of these
commercial campaigns.
This problem does not only affect
women, most CEOs in companies
have above average height
because height is associated with
power. This is a multi-generational,
gender-neutral issue. Our children
grow up with no respect for
themselves and certainly cannot
convey that love and acceptance
to their peers.
if we don't have the confidence to keep going, I
could be one of these statistics. So how do we
transform? How do we start loving ourselves?
Well, first of all, we have to find out what are
the triggers that make us feel less than that.
Was it scrolling through social media or
something? You might need to give it a break.
Find out what the stuff is and cut it out. You
have to be prepared to fight for your identity in
this pop culture driven society.
