Changes In Matter

Changes in matter is one of the biggest things the world revolves around. Matter can be
found in many different shapes and sizes. Changes in matter happen at every second, somewhere
around the world, everyday. Particles, atoms, shape, and volume all have a play into the different
states of matter and you may have not even known it until now. All of this goes into the three basic
changes of matter.

To begin, solids are the first state of matter. They are hard objects that you can both see and
touch. There's a definite shape and a definite volume when it comes to a solid being hard from the
inside out. Solids have tightly packed together particles that vibrate in place. Strong attractive
forces are trying to get the particles to move around, but there is no space to move so they only
vibrate in place. For example, a cup filled with cold ice cubes. When the temperature is cold
enough, it stays hard and the particles can’t move around freely. Solids keep their shape the same.
A solid into a liquid however, the particles will warm up and become free to move past other
particles.

In addition, liquids are the second state of matter. You are able to see and touch whatever
liquid it may be. It has no definite shape, but does have a definite volume. This change in matter is
able to roam over and under another object that may be put into it. Sense the state isn’t a solid that’s
hard, particles now have the access to freely move past other particles. The attractive forces are
even weaker than those in solids which is why this happens. For example, an ice cube melts into
water. It does this because the particles gain energy. As it does, the particles slowly begin to gain
more free movement until it’s no longer a vibration of particles, but particles moving past each
other because their state has changed. Liquid will change its shape depending on what it’s being
held in. A liquid into a gas on the other hand, the particles will absorb heat energy and start to
move around faster and further from each other.

Finally, gasses are the third state of matter. You can’t always see gas with the human eye,
but you can always touch it. It can stay in a sealed off space, but if it is unsealed or exposed to the
outside, the gas will escape. It has no definite shape or volume. The particles move freely, faster
because they’re spread far apart. A gasses attractive forces between particles are pretty slight or
weak. For example, water evaporating into water vapor. The particles heat up over time resulting in
them gaining more and more free range to move. Gas will change its shape depending on if and
what it's held in. A gas nonetheless, can still change into a liquid or to a solid depending on the
influence the environment has on the particle's temperature and domain.

In conclusion, this essay has talked about the changes, wonders, and facts of solid, liquid,
and gas. Matter can be seen in many different shapes and sizes. You may not notice, but everyday
matter changes all around you. Particles, atoms, shape, and volume all take part in the different
states of matter. These aspects of life all come together to create the three basic changes of matter
that are solid, liquid, and gas.You started off reading this essay, possibly not having knowledge
near to what’s inside, and you finish reading with a whole new perspective of the changes in
matter.
