Assessment Instructions:

information relating to extensions. Extension requests should be submitted to your LSO at
least 3 days prior to the due date.

3. Assessments submitted via email will not be accepted.

4. Assessments must be submitted through Turn-it-in (unless otherwise stated).


Your submission must:

a. Be a single document (Word or PDF only)

b. Include at least 20 words of machine-readable text, and

c. Not exceed 10MB.

5. You must use the provided assessment cover page available on your Moodle student
homepage. Submissions without a cover page will not be accepted.

6. You must correctly title your document/s. For example:

7. You must reference all content used from other sources including course materials, slides,
diagrams, etc. Do not directly copy and paste from course materials or any other resources.

Question 1:
Consider a project for which you are the PM. You have to oversee the selection and installation of a
boiler for a plant.
Create a report (1,500-2,000 words) for the above based on the points below:
i. Define the objectives and scope of work of the project (work included/excluded and the
context of work)
ii. Define the specifications of the equipment and list the safety and regulatory requirements
iii. Create a list of activities and phases for the project (provide a WBS)
iv. Create a time management schedule for the activities (provide a Gantt chart)
v. Discuss how you might use PERT to take into account uncertainties in the duration and cost of
the tasks

Question 2:
Consider a project for which you are the PM. You have to oversee the construction of a food
processing plant. The plant should produce dry milk from fresh milk with a capacity of 100,000 liters
of fresh milk per day.
Create a report (1,500 – 2,000 words) for the above based on the points below:
i. Define the objectives and scope of work of the project (work included/excluded and the
context of work)
ii. Define and describe the different activities and provide a WBS

iii. Define and analyse the stakeholders


iv. List the costs involved (provide an estimation)
v. Discuss how to control and monitor the costs
vi. Discuss how to monitor the progress of the project
