1 Assurance
Test results are only as accurate as the equipment performing the tests.
Therefore, MK Quality Assurance helps monitor the test devices for accuracy
and reliability.
Some of the screen examples in this guide were created in NT, others under
UNIX. There are small differences, but most screens have the same content
under either operating environment.
Chapter 3, Monitoring Test Tools, describes how to periodically check test tools to
prove if they are in working order.
Chapter 4, Planning Tests, describes how to create and control test plans to
identify the test steps for each quality control operation.
Chapter 5, Using Test Orders, describes how to create and control test orders to
identify which tests to perform at the production stage.
Using MK Documentation
This guide describes how to perform tasks available from the MK Quality
Assurance module. If you need detailed field-level information, use online Help.
Instructions for using online Help are provided in Getting Started.
The MK documentation set includes a separate user guide for each major
business function. The business functions consist of related MK modules; for
example, Project Control System (PCS) includes the Project Budgeting, Project
Control, and Project Network Planning, and Link PCS to Finance modules. The
MK documentation set is listed below:
■ Advanced Warehouse Management User Guide
■ Cost User Guide
■ Engineering User Guide
■ Finance User Guide
■ Inventory Management and DRP User Guide
■ Planning User Guide
■ Product Configurator User Guide
■ Production User Guide
■ Project Management User Guide
■ Purchasing User Guide
■ Sales User Guide
■ Service Management User Guide
This guide also assumes that you understand basic manufacturing and financial
concepts and are familiar with Microsoft Windows NT or UNIX terminology and
navigational techniques. If you need more information about your operating
system, refer to your Windows NT or UNIX documentation.
Note: In general, the procedures in this guide direct you to use the appropriate
toolbar button or mouse action. It assumes you know the alternative procedure
using the keyboard.

copy the test plan. This code must have previously been recorded using
the session Maintain Customized Test Plans (qamtp0130m000).
■ Original Item— Enter the code of the customized item from which you
want to copy the test plan. This code must have previously been
recorded using the session Maintain Customized Test Plans
(qamtp0130m000).
Before You Begin Before a standard test plan can be copied to another test plan, the following
sessions must be carried out:
■ Maintain Routing (tirou2110m000)
■ Maintain Test Plans (qamtp0120m000)
Session Procedure Use the Copy Standard Test Plan to Standard Test Plan (qamtp1134m000)
session to copy the standard test plan for an item to another standard item.
1. Access the Copy Standard Test Plan to Standard Test Plan (qamtp1134m000)
session:
2. Enter data in all required fields. Explanations of the required and other
important fields follow:
■ Original Item Code— Enter the code of the standard item from which you
want to copy the test plan. This code must have already been recorded
using the session Maintain Test Plans (qamtp0120m000).
■ Route Operation—Enter the route of the standard item from which you
want to copy the test plan.
■ In Standard Item—Enter the code of the standard test item to which the
original standard test plan is to be copied. This code should have
previously been recorded using the session Maintain Routing
(tirou2110m000).
■ Route Operation—Enter the route of the standard item to which you want
to copy the test plan.
■ Copy Method—Specify what you want copied to the customized test plan.
If the customized test plan is not available, it is created during the copy
procedure. The three choices are:
– One operation—MK copies all test steps from the original operation to
the destination operation.
– All operations—MK copies subsequent quality operations inclusive of
all test steps from the standard test plan to the customized test plan
(the first quality operation from the standard test plan is copied to
the first quality operation of the customized test plan and so on).
Note: If the production plan for the destination item does not
contain quality operations, the copy procedure is not performed.
– One test step—MK copies the selected test step from the standard test
plan to the selected operation of the customized test plan.
■ With Accept.Param.—Specify if you want MK to copy the corresponding
acceptance test parameters to the standard acceptance test parameters.
■ Original Operation—Enter the number of the original production plan
operation that should be copied to the destination test plan. Only
quality operations can be copied.
■ Original Test Step—Enter the test step number of the original test plan to
be copied to the standard test plan.
■ Destination Operation—Enter the operation of the standard test plan to
which the operation of the customized test plan should be copied. Only
quality operations can be copied.
Before You Begin Before defining acceptance test parameters, you must run the following sessions:
■ Quality Control Operations (qamtp0001m000)
■ Maintain Master Test Steps (qamcd0111m000)
■ Maintain Routing (tirou2110m000)
Modify and enter, then assign these parameters to acceptance test steps.
When you have defined and/or marked acceptance test parameters and
returned to the session Test Steps (qamtp0121s000), these parameters are
assigned to the corresponding test steps.
Session Procedure There are two ways to maintain acceptance test parameters:
■ Use the session Maintain Acceptance Test Parameters (qamtp3121m000) to
add a new acceptance test parameter combination.
■ Modify and enter acceptance test parameters when in the session Test Steps
(qamtp0121s000). Zoom on the field "Error type" to update the session
Maintain Acceptance Test Parameters (qamtp2021s000) and assign the
parameters to the corresponding test steps.
Enter data in all required fields. Explanations of the required and other
important fields follow:
■ Item Code—The code for the manufactured item (main item or the
subassembly).
■ Route—Enter the route.
■ Operation—Enter the sequence of operation on which to maintain acceptance
test parameters.
■ Error Type—Define the errors for this acceptance test. There are three
possible types of errors:
– critical error—This error type has the worse consequence.
– main error—This error type limits the use of the item.
– subsidiary error—This error type slightly limits the use of the item.
Each type of error is characterized by AQL and AQL type. These parameters
should have previously been specified in the session Maintain Acceptance
Test Parameters (qamtp2021s000).
■ AQL—Enter the acceptable quality level. AQL values are connected to error
type and define the level of security during acceptance tests.
On the production stage in the session Maintain Samples (qamoc1160s000)
the volume of the sample and the acceptable number of defects (defected
items) are defined according to the AQL value.
The Standard IS0 2859-1 defines a table of values, accepted by the AQL-
values. When you enter a value in this field, the program looks for the next
value in the table ISO 2859 and takes it as a defined AQL-value. For this
purpose it uses the table ISO 2859-1 for the normal sample plans, normal
tests - test level II.
Note: If you enter the AQL-value 100, the sampling procedure during
acceptance tests on the production stage is not used. This means the sample
volume and the acceptable number of defected items are equal to the whole
volume of produced items.
■ AQL Typ—Define the type of acceptable quality level. There are two
possible AQL types:
– Number of defective items
– Number of defects
■ Integration—Determine if the results of acceptance tests in the session
Maintain Acceptance Tests (qamoc1130m000) are reported to the session
Report Operations Completed (tisfc0102s000).
Before You Begin Before defining acceptance test parameters, you must run the following
sessions:
■ Quality Control Operations (qamtp0001m000)
■ Maintain Master Test Steps (qamcd0111m000)
■ Maintain Routing (tirou2110m000)
Session Procedure There are two ways to maintain customer acceptance test parameters. You can
modify and enter acceptance test parameters when in the session Customized
Test Steps (qamtp0131s000). Zoom on the field "Error type" to update the
session Maintain Customized Acceptance Test Parameters (qamtp2031s000) and
assign the parameters to the corresponding test steps.
2. Enter data in all required fields. Explanations of the required and other
important fields follow:

acceptance test parameters.
■ Item Code—The code for the manufactured item (main item or the
subassembly).
■ Operation—Enter the sequence of operation on which to maintain
acceptance test parameters.
These
parameters should have previously been specified in the session
