Recruitment is the process of finding and attracting capable applicants to apply


for employment. Recruiters should be aware of constraints and challenges
surrounding the recruiting process. Once job opening have been identified, the
recruiters learn what each job requires by reviewing the job information analysis
particularly job description and job specification. To understand the recruitment
process one must examine the constraints, challenges and channels of
recruitment that results in perspective employees completing an application for
employment.
Current employees are a major source of recruits for all job. Internal recruitment
channels include: job posting programs; departing employees.
When external recruitment channels are used? The answer is clear as job
openings are not filled internally. The external channel for recruitment comprised
on:
 Walk-ins and write ins
 Employee referrals
 Advertising
 State employment security agency
 Private placement agency
 Professional search firms
 Govt. funded and community programs
 Labor organizations
 Open houses
 International recruiting
(Fig 7.4) summarizes the recruiting process and identifies each of the commonly
used channels of recruitment.
The job application blank collect information about recruits in a very uniform
manner. It is the end of recruitment process and beginning of the SELECTION
process.
