“A teacher’s interactions with students set the tone for the classroom.

Through their
interactions, teachers convey that they are interested in and care about their students.”
(Danielson, The Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument, Domain 2, 2011).
In my classroom, I will set the tone. I will establish an environment of respect, create
organization for learning, and ensure all expectations are clear and guided. Behavioral
management systems will be strong and supportive. Classroom's goals will be reminded daily,
and lesson goals will be addressed at the beginning of and throughout each lesson. Setting and
sharing goals before an assignment and lesson creates an environment where students are
comfortable, and confident while learning and executing their assignments.
I will also ensure my students know that other than assignment goals and activities, I am
also looking at their own individualized process. It’s more than just aces exit tickets and
assignments, it’s also about celebrating their personal successes each time they are met. “When
students feel safe when they feel their culture and climate supports that, when they feel cared
about, not only by the adults in the school but by other students in the school, they can do their
best” (Edutopia, 2010).
There are many aspects of organizing students, so they can learn. I believe that one part
of organizing goes back to creating groups based on the needs of the students. For small group
instruction, students will be grouped based on their Tier levels. When in their tier groups,
students will be given assignments based on their current grade level abilities. While conducting
whole group instruction, students will sit in groups, mixed with all three level tier learners. This
gives students the opportunity to learn from their peers and broaden their level of thinking. At
the same time, it should be noted that each group of students will always have the same resources
and materials to learn effectively. Allowing diverse ways of learning with the students makes it
possible for them to learn more easily and with less stress.
