THE BIG BLUE WHALE

-The largest animal on the whole world is Blue Whale.

-Blue whales are the largest animals ever to have lived - bigger even than the largest of the
dinosaurs.

-Latine name for blue whale is Balaneoptera masculus;

- They live in all seas, and some species also live in tropical and subtropical rivers;

-Blue whales, the largest animals on Earth, are hundreds of times heavier than large hippos.

-Today, four groups of mammals live in the water: That are whales, sea lions (seals),
manatees and otters. They all have a spindly body.

-Blue whales are classified as mammals. This means that even though they live in water they
have to come to the surface for air;

-they can swimm with speed about 20km/h , at average.

-they live in the ocean and they can live about 80 to 90 years;

- The lower part of the body of the whale often has a yellowish tint, due to all the
microorganisms that live on its skin.

-Few people know that blue whales are also the loudest animals. Their grunting, buzzing and
moaning sounds reach over 180 decibels.

- They eat about 8 tons of food per day, every day;

- For food they can swimm very deep, up to 500m;
