GOD'S BEEN GOOD LEAN ON ME

Words and Music by Sue C. Smith and Belinda Lee Smith Words and Music by Gary Mathena

Verse 1
Verse 1
Lately I’ve been looking back, along this winding road When no one cared about me if I should live or die,
To the old familiar markers of the mercies I have known and no one bothered asking why I'd go alone and cry.
I know it may sound simple but it's more than a cliché
When burdens got so heavy that I could not face the day,
There's no better way to tell you, than to say
God's been good, then I'd feel His arms around me and I'd hear Him gently say,

Chorus Chorus
In my life, I feel blessed beyond my wildest dreams
when I go to sleep each night "Lean on Me when you have no strength to stand.
And though I’ve had my share of hard When you feel you're goin' under, hold tighter to my hand.
Times, I wouldn't change them if I could Lean on me when your heart begins to bleed
Cause through it all, God's been good
When you come to the place that I'm all you have,
Verse 2 then you'll find I'm all you need.
Times replay and I can see, that I’ve cried some bitter tears
But I felt his arms around me, as I faced my greatest fears
Verse 2
You see I’ve had my gains than
Losses and I’ve known more joy than hurt When the road ahead seems rugged and the path is getting steep
As his grace rolled down upon me undeserved I feel that I can’t make it and my heart begins to weep.
God's been good,
Then I turn to see who’s comin’ to join me in the way,

Verse 3 and I see that it’s my Savior and I hear Him gently say,
For God has been my Father, my Savior and my friend
His love was my beginning, and His love will be my end
I could spend forever trying to tell you everything He is When you come to the place that I'm all you have,
But the best that I can say it is this then you'll find I'm all you need.
Lean on Me.
