Dear Brooktree Families,

I hope you had a restful and relaxing winter break. I was able to spend quality time with
friends and family. I also spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen making bread and tamales.
Please take a moment to review the information below.

Early Dismissal - Friday, January 13th.


We will have early dismissal on Friday, January 13th (TK @ 12:10pm & Grades K-5 @ 1:00pm).

No School - Monday, January 16th.


There will be no school on Monday, January 16th (Dr. King Day). School will resume on
Tuesday, January 17th.

THANK YOU - Hot Chocolate and Cookies


A big thank you to Lani, Vaishnavi, Rebecca, Jesse, Patricia, and Madelle for assisting with
the hot chocolate and cookies event. It was great to see all the students enjoy a special
treat before the winter break.

Rainy Day
The following information pertains to rainy days only:
● ARRIVAL - DOORS OPEN AT 7:46am. DO NOT DOUBLE PARK IN THE SCHOOL
PARKING LOT - STAFF NEED TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS PARKING STALLS . On rainy
days ALL STUDENTS will need to enter through the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR). The
MPR is located next to the school office. Only staff and students will be allowed into
the MPR.
● DISMISSAL - Gates will be open for parents/guardians to pick up their children
directly from the outside of the classroom. Students and families are not permitted to
linger on campus after dismissal.

Staff Parking Lot


If you are on campus for a class event, please remember to park on the street. The school
parking lot is for staff only. We have numerous staff who begin their shift after the start of
the school day and there are times that they are unable to find parking.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)


For the month of January we will be focusing on RESPECT. Please review the following
information below:

● Meaning: Treating others the way I want to be treated. Being considerate and
honoring the feelings, opinions, and property of others.
● What it looks like at Brooktree:
○ Showing empathy, being an active listener, having good manners, being kind
○ Practicing the GOLDEN RULE….Treat others the way you want to be treated

To help bridge school to home learning please have a conversation with your child
regarding what perseverance means to you. You can also engage in conversation about
how they can persevere in school.
