Sub. : Request for Ad . on occasion of the 71h National RTI Seminar.

Dear Sir,

In order to promote transparency and accountability, The Right to Info rmation Act "lj:J::; t"t~
become fully operational w.e.f. 12th Oct. 2005, enabling citizens of India to secure acct:..,S!
to information under the control of Public Authorities.

As envisaged in the preamble of the Act, 'Informed citizenry' and 'transparency of information' an
'vital for functioning of democracy' and 'to contain corruption & make public authorities accountab1e
If RTI Act is implemented in letter and spirit it cou ld bring a major administrative reform l ead 1 n~
quicker response to aspirations of the people.
It is also provided in the Act (Section : 26 ) that the appropriate Government & public authoritie
should organise educational programmes i.e. workshops etc. to advance the understanding c
the public as to how to exercise the rights contemplated under this Act.

However, the experience of last seven years shows that the 'practical regime of right to informatior
is still a distant dream. RTI can not be satisfactorily implemented until and unless the roles anc
responsibilities supposed to be met at the execution and monitoring levels are strengthened.
It is in this background FOUNDATION FOR PEOPLE'S RIGHT TO INFORMATION (FPR!
in association with SANSOOCHANA SA MAYA magazine is organizing the 7th National Seminar cun
Workshop on Right to Information on 17th November, 2012 in Lucknow. Shri Satyananda Mishra
Hon'ble Chief Information Commissioner of India has kindly consented to inaugurate the Semina1

Representatives of more than two hundred NGOs besides RTI activists and other stakeholder:
will be participating in the seminar c um workshop and would chalkout a programme to take th1
message_of the sem inar to the grass root level to benefit the citizens.

We do hope that you will positively support our initiative and would be kind eno ug l
to issue necessary instructions for release of an advertisement in the RTI special issue o
SANSOOCHANA SAMAYA Magazine to be published on this occasion and oblige.
