SINGLES

 Start serving at the right service court and must serve to the court diagonally opposite.
 When the server’s score is odd, the serve will be from the left service of the court.
 If the server wins a rally, the server scores a point and will then serve again from the
alternate service court.
 If the receiver wins a rally, the receiver scores a point and becomes the new server. They
serve from the appropriate service court.

DOUBLES

 A team will only have one player serve, per “service”.


 If the server wins a rally, the server scores a point and will then serve from the alternate
service court.
 If the receiver wins a rally, the receiver scores a point and becomes the new server. They
serve from the appropriate service court.
 If your side fails to win this first point, the right to serve goes to the player who was the
first receiver on the other side. It is only after the first service of each game that the
right to serve passes to the other side on the loss of the first rally. For the rest of the
game, the serve passes to your partner before going to your opponent.
FAULT (violation of the rules)

 The server must contact the shuttle below the waist


 The service fails to cross the net or go into the proper service court
 The feet of the server and receiver are not in the proper courts at time of service
 Invading the opponent’s territory with one’s foot, body or racket.
 The server hesitates or stops the service motion or misses the bird
 The improper receiver returns the bird on the serve
 The bird hits into the net, under the net, against the wall or ceiling is out of bounds
 A player hits the bird before it crosses the net
 The bird touches a player or clothing
 The player touches the net while the bird is in play
 The bird is hit twice in succession by one or both partners
 The bird is held, caught or carried on the racket when struck
 A player obstructs an opponent

LET

 (a play allowed to be played)


 The bird becomes caught in or on the net after passing over the net
 If the receiver is not ready when the service is delivered
