Good morning, students. How are you Good morning,

today? Ma’am! We are all
fine, Ma’am!

I’m glad that you are doing just fine!

I am teacher Jolina, and I will be
discussing out topics for you this
morning.

today?

For you to be guided in this lesson, let us

have our classroom rules.

Wow! That’s impressive! I hope you

continue to always be present in class. (A student reading
the rules)

Rules
1.Listen Attentively.
2. Do not answer in chorus. If you want to
share your answer, raise your hand.
3. Cooperate in all activities.
4. Avoid talking while someone is talking
in front. Yes, Ma’am!
5. DO NOT use your phone unless you’re
told to.
6. Respect your teacher and classmates.

Okay, thank you! Are you all ready?

We have here your scoreboard which

will be updated after you perform well in
the group activities. Every time you will
answer correctly, I will give you
corresponding points.

Do you get that class?

A. Reviewing Previous To check if you still remember our

Lesson discussion last meeting, let us have a game
called IN ORDER TO EXPLAIN. The
teacher will flash jumbled letters and the
students are tasked to arrange the letters in
order to form words. The student who
arranges the letters first will be excluded
from explaining the formed word, but
he/she will choose the one who’ll explain
(and give examples of) the formed words.
Each word should be arranged in 30
seconds, and 1 minute for the explanation.
Each correct word will be timed and
merits 3 points for arranging the letters,
and 5 points for the explanation.

Impressive! It seems that you have really
understood our last discussion. Just a
reminder, contemporary art is art made today
by living artists. It reflects the complex issues
that shape our diverse, global, and rapidly
changing world. Through their work, many
contemporary artists explore personal or
cultural identity, offer critiques of social and
institutional structures, or even attempt to
redefine art itself.

Great job, everyone! I am so happy for

your participation! I can see that you really
value our environment. Now, let’s have
Teacher Dyan for our discussion.
B. Discussing New Environmental conservation has become
Concepts & Practicing one of the core issues that need to be
New Skills #1 addressed to battle climate change and
global warming. Sustainable development
is the need of the hour that can save the
mother earth from the repercussions of
industrialization.

What is Environment Conservation?

Environmental conservation is a practice

that paves the way for protecting the
environment and natural resources on the
individual, organisational as well as
governmental levels.

There are various core environmental

issues that are taking a heavy toll on
human lives. Ranging from
overpopulation, hydrological issues, ozone
depletion, global warming to deforestation,
desertification and pollution, all these
issues pose a severe threat to the existence
of humankind. Unless environmental
conservation is becoming an effective
mass movement, it is futile to expect
positive growth especially in the age of
digital media which holds the potential to
bring a revolution to save our planet from
destruction.

Today,environmental problems in the

Philippines include pollution, illegal
mining and logging, deforestation, threats
to environmental activists, dynamite
fishing, landslides, coastal erosion,
biodiversity loss, extinction, global
warming and climate change.

The Philippines also suffers major human-

caused environmental degradation
aggravated by a high annual population
growth rate, including loss of agricultural
lands, deforestation, soil erosion, air and
water pollution, improper disposal of solid
and toxic wastes, loss of coral reefs,
mismanagement and abuse of coastal
resources, and overfishing.

The Philippines is also battling the

pandemic. It brings more problems to the
environment than ever before due to tons
of garbage from masks, plastic test kits,
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and
other related medical equipment without
any sound plans on disposal. During the
lockdown in 2020, there were stories of
wild animals roaming the city, and of
noise pollution reduced as well as air
pollution. But as we learn to navigate
through the pandemic, we are creating
more problems rather than solutions.

5 Ways to Conserve the Environment

1. Stop burning plastics and rubbers

2. Conserve water and electricity
3. Support local & environmentally
friendly
4. Reuse, Reduce, Recycle materials
properly
5. Segregate garbage and plant more
trees

Before we proceed to our next topic, can I

ask if you know Gina Lopez? Let’s watch

how Gina Lopez

She always has this

organizations.

Now, while watching or after watching the environment

environment? will be successful if
someone is leading.

Why do you think it is important to have

someone who will lead us to protect our
environment?
We wish to have a good quality of life for
our children. However, many companies
are operating in ways that negatively affect
the environment. We can ensure our
children and future generations enjoy the
best quality of life. Every day we hear
about how our planet is changing.
C. Discussing New This time, please examine these quotes
Concepts & Practicing coming from late Secretary Gina Lopez
New Skills #2 (10 mins) about the environment and try to look for
words that indicates how often that thing
happen.

“For me, the environment has always

been about people.”

“You know how religion can be very

external and quite sometimes even heavy
and intellectual.”
I think it is the
words “always” and
Anyone can answer. “sometimes”.

These words are

adverbs of
Thank you, so what do you think these frequency, Ma’am.
words are?

That is right! Today, we will be discussing

about adverbs. There are so many types of
adverbs, but this time, we will focus on
adverbs of frequency.

What is an adverb?
An adverb is a word that modifies
(describes) a verb (he sings loudly), an
adjective (very tall), another adverb (ended
too quickly), or even a whole sentence
(Fortunately, I had brought an umbrella).
Adverbs often end in -ly, but some (such
as fast) look exactly the same as their
adjective counterparts.
There are different types of adverbs. But
today, we will discuss more on the adverbs
of frequency.

An adverb of frequency describes how

often an action happens. There are six
main adverbs of frequency that we use in
English: always, usually (or normally),
often, sometimes, rarely, and never.

Example:

 I often collect plastic bottles.

 I always segregate our garbage
every Wednesday.
 I usually walk every morning on
my way to school.
 I sometimes accept tree planting
invitations when I’m free.
 James and Mark rarely see birds in
their community because the trees - I seldom
were cut down. burn
 Jane never burns plastics even garbage.
though she was told to. - I rarely
- I never
Always use adverbs of frequency to
discuss how often something happens.
Adverbs of frequency are often used to
indicate routine or repeated activities, so
they are often used with the present simple
tense. Yes, teacher.

To make questions about frequency, we

normally use ‘How often…?’

Example:
 How often do you use recyclable
materials?
 How often do you conserve water
in your house?

Now, class! Can you give me examples of

the adverbs of frequency seldom, rarely,
and never?
Very good! Let’s have a big round of
applause!

Did you understand, class?

To assess you understanding about the

topic that we discussed, let us have
Teacher Nathalie!
1. Developing Activity 1
Mastery (5 mins)
To check if you really understood our
lesson, we will have an activity. This
activity is called “Caption Me, please!”
We have three pictures to be flashed on the
screen and all you have to do is to make a
stand about these photos using the adverbs
of frequency. The first group to raise their Yes, Ma’am.
banner will be recognized. Are we all
clear?
Illegal mining is one
1. of the controversial
issues in the
Philippines. It never
brings any good
effect in the
environment
because it creates
soil pollution, and
sometimes water
pollution.

2.

The picture shows

wasting water. My
stand in that is that
“Always save
water”. It is
important to always
save water specially
at home.
Illegal logging is
3. relevant in our
country. If we
always cut trees
without planting
back, we will
always experience
extreme floods.

Activity 2

Team Reuse – “!”

Create an infomercial about promoting

environmental conservation. It should be
at least 30 seconds to 1 minute. Apply the
use of adverbs of frequency in making the
script.

Group Recycle: “Dress me up!”

You are tasked to do a cosplay about

preserving Mother Nature. Choose at least
2 elements of the Earth and present it in a
creative way. Make sure to use recyclable
materials in your cosplay. You can also
have a representative for the voice over for
your reasons while you are showcasing
your work. Remember, use the adverbs of
frequency.

Group Reduce – “Talak-Tik”

Suppose you are in a noon-time show and

now in a segment where candidates will
have their Q and A portion. The twist in
this segment is that a question will be
flashed on the screen and each candidate
will tell her arguments about the
statement. Each candidate will give her
arguments about the topic for only 10
seconds. They will take turns until they
2. Finding Practical This time, to really deepen your

What comes to your mind when you see a beautiful and

A butterfly is one of the prettiest creatures
in nature. It is also one creature that goes
through an intense, transformative process,
much like how nature has the power to
transform things into something you could
never imagine before.

Besides that, butterflies represent an

important aspect of life, and that is change.
Everyone must go through this change to
become a better version of themselves, or
else they will be putting ourselves in
danger. Until there is time, be a butterfly
