Materials and Manufacturing Method 2.1 The fittings shall be manufactured from polyvinyl chloride as principal component and comounded with stabilizer, pigment, etc. of good quality. 2.2 The fittings shall be manufactured through a properly heated injection machine. 3. Type and Symbol r The type and symbol according to the shape of the fittings shall be as spec sn Tablet ‘Applicable Standards: JIS B 7502-External Micrometers JIS B 7507-Vernier Calipers JIS K 6741-Unplasticized Polyvinylchloride (P.V.C) Pipes JIS K 7113-Testing Method for Tensile Propert JIS K 8150-Sodium Chloride JIS K 8541-Nitric Acid a JIS K 8576-Calcium Hydroxide JIS K 8951~Sulfuric Acid JIS K 8401-Rules for Rounding Off of Numerical Values s of Plastics Table 1 Designation «| yb 90° elbow DL 90° long turn elbow LL a 90° Y SSS ee 90° ¥ reducing 90° long turn Y ———$— ——____—_| LT 90° long turn Y reducing 90° long turn Y-branch ee WLT 90° long turn Y-branch reducing 45°y ee} Y 45° Y reducing Socket Increaser 4. Appearance. Shape, Dimensions and Tolerance 4.1. The fittings shall be furnished in gray colour, but may be furnished in other colours by the agreement between parties concerned. 4.2. The fittings shall be smooth, and shall be smooth in inner and outer surfaces and be free from any defects such as burrs, flaws cracks, twists and others. 4.3. The shape and dimensions including permissible tolerances of the fittings shall be as specified in Attached Figures. 5. Quality Requirements The fittings shall meet the quality requirements as specified in Table 2 when tested in accordance with 6. €° cr 3 K 6739-1972 Table 2 Test items Requirement Tensile strength 380 kg/em? min. The test specimen shall be free from any Hydrostatic test leakage and other defects The test specimen shall be free from any Flattening test cracks and crazings ; Not more than + 0-2 mg/cm? in weight change Immersion test for each test solution Penetration test under heating 80°C min. 6. Method of Tests 6.1 Appearance. Shape and Dimensions The appearance and shape shall be examined by haked eyes and the dimensions shall be measured by means of an external micrometer (JIS B 7502), a vernier caliper (JIS B 7507) or protractor graduated in 5" 6.2 Tension Test A test specimen of suitable size shall be cut from the fittings under test; and the cross-sectional area shall be calculated as follows: Saexs where, : cross-sectional area (em?) + + minimum thickness (em) b+ minimum chord length (em) Then the test specimen shall be subjected to the tension test in accordance with JIS K 7113-Tension Test for Plastics at a tension rate of 10 mm per minute. If this test is carried out at a temperature other than 20°C, the tensile strength at 20°C shall be induced from the following formula: f= fe + 6.6508 ~ 20) where, + tensile strength at 20°C (kg/em?) fos tensile strength at test temperature (kg/em?) @ + test temperature = 20+ 15°C 6.3 Hydrostatic Test The test specimen shall be subjected to the hydrostatic test under 3.5 kg/cm water pressure at normal temperature for one minute. 6.4 Flattening Test The threaded end shall be cut from the fittings and placed between two flat plates, and a load applied perpendicularly to the axis of the pipe at a rate of 10 mm per minute at normal temperature until the outer diameter of the test specimen is reduced to 1/2 of the original 4 K 6739-1972 6.5 Immersion Test The test specimen 15 mm long and 25 mm wide shall be cut from thé threaded ends of fittings and immersod in the test solutions specified in Table 3 for 5 hours at a temperature 60 ~ ‘After taken out from the solutions, Mush the test specimens in tap water for 5 seconds and wipe off water adhered to the surface with a dry cloth. Flushing with tap water shall be omitted for water immersed test specimen. Then the test specimen shall be weighed in a weighing bottle and the change in weight shall be calculated by the following formula: w z where, q+ change in weight (mg/cm?) WW, + weight of test specimen after immersion (mg) Wy + weight of test specimen before immersion (mg) S + surface area of test specimen (em?) Place the test specimen on the metallic table previously warmed to 50°C in an enclosed vessel, and place the penetrating bar with the lower end finished to 1 mm diameter on the center of the test specimen. Then apply a 2 kg load on the bar, and elevate the temperature of the enclosed vessel at a rate of 1°C per minute until the test specimen softens and the tip of bar penetrates 0.1 mm into the test specimen. Read the thermometer attached to the table at this instant and report as the penetration temperature. The temperature of the enclosed vessel shall be about 25°C above this temperature. 5 q By K 6739-1972 } Figure Unit: mm [ Test wpacimen Ee sy 4 4 A -—- =t 7.
