 The theater

Theater is one of the oldest cultural and artistic Kiactivities known to mankind. It is one of the
performing arts, that is, those that take place on a stage, and consists of the recreation of one
or several stories of a different nature through actors, speeches, music and scenery.

 Parts of the theater

• Curtain for the mouth: In the theater, we can see that there are various types of
curtains, and can be classified as Greek, German or French curtains.
• Pit:The pit is generally located at a lower level than the traditional ground where
both spectators and performers of the work are.

• Stage: This space generally has a high platform, with the intention that the public
better appreciate what will be shown on the spot.

• Backstage: In the theater, the backstage is nothing like a Christmas decoration, far
from it, it is two curtains that divide the theater.

• Dressing rooms: These are rooms specifically intended for the use of the actors and
actresses appearing in the play. So that they can make use of the space for the
pertinent tasks, such as putting on makeup, dressing and everything required to get
ready and go on stage.

• Stage dressing rooms: The dressing rooms are used to make quick changes within
the same work, and occur within the same stage before the eyes of the spectator.

• Security curtain: The security curtain is usually made of steel or another type of
resistant metal. This is intended to serve as a firewall in the event of a fire.

• Loom: In these rods that make up the loom, not only the curtains are generally
hung, but also the spotlights, legs, screens, among other production elements.

• Acoustic shell:The acoustic shells are located on each side of the stage, and fulfill the
function of improving the acoustics of the sound, better redirecting it towards the
spectators

• Scene: Everything that the public can see inside the play once the curtain opens is
called a scene.

• Sho: sides of the stage are the shoulders, which are out of sight of the spectator
during the mise-en-scène and are used for technical purposes.

• Mouthpiece: It is called “embouchure” to the part of the scene through which the
viewers are able to
• .Crossing gallery: These are corridors used by interpreters and operators to move
around comfortably.
 Theatrical script:

A theatrical script is the text where all the content of a literary and technical nature
necessary for the assembly and realization of a play is presented. The script is the
format under which a story adapted to the theater is written.

 Types of props:

• Emphatic: in this group is everything that is essential for the plot and for its
understanding by the public. For example, the dagger with which one character kills
another.
• Hand or character: these are all the objects that the actors must manipulate, such
as a book, a cane or a glass of water.
• scene: elements that remain on stage throughout an entire scene, or the
performance as a whole. For example, a window or a lamp.
