This dissertation examines the attitudes and perceptions of college students towards intercultural

communicative competence (ICC). The research focuses on the impact of ICC on student learning
outcomes, as well as the factors that influence students’ attitudes and perceptions towards ICC. The
study was conducted using a survey of college students from three different universities in the
United States. Results indicate that there is a positive correlation between ICC and student learning
outcomes, with higher levels of ICC associated with higher levels of academic performance.
Additionally, results suggest that students’ attitudes and perceptions towards ICC are influenced by
their cultural background, gender, and prior experiences with intercultural communication.
Implications for educators are discussed, including the need to provide more opportunities for
students to engage in intercultural communication activities in order to foster greater understanding
and appreciation for diversity.
