History
Ulysses
It was November 11, 2020, 10 days after super Typhoon Rolly hit the Bicol
Region. The great damage left by the Typhoon is still visible on our faces and in our
barangay. Just pure darkness, no lights can be seen anywhere in our area, there is a lot
of garbage strewn outside, many families are still fixing their homes, and there are
still downed trees that make us more anxious. We were even more worried when we
heard that it would happen again because of the approaching typhoon Ulysses.

At around morning on the 11th of November, I remember I was playing mobile

legends with one of my neighbours outside. I played without fear even though I knew
a storm was coming because the sky was clear and it wasn’t raining. But as time went
on, I noticed that the wind was getting stronger it was so strong that you will hear the
roof of our neighbourhood thundering so loud. I wasn’t scared at first so I just
continued playing but after a few minutes, my cell phone lost signal so I went home.
When noon came, I felt the strong whip of hurricane Ulysses because of the heavy
rain and wind. It was bright outside, so I decided to look outside to see what was
going on. I saw fallen trees, leaves blowing in the wind, trees without leaves, and
holes in the neighbours’ roofs. I never thought this storm would be this strong. I
thought this typhoon was weak because just a week ago Super Typhoon Rolly came
and I thought it is the last typhoon that can be this strong. Two hours passed but the
strong gusts of wind and rain still did not stop, instead, they got even stronger. If
earlier I didn’t care about what was happening, now I feel a mixture of fear and
apprehension inside because the problems left by the previous storm will worsen and
more families will struggle to get back on their feet. When I felt the rain and wind
subside, I decided to go outside to see what was happening outside. I felt deja vu
because this is what I saw last week but now more trees have fallen on the road so that
other vehicles cannot pass. The afternoon came and the storm disappeared
completely. The previously cloudy sky has now been replaced by the light of the sun.
Nature writing
Daylight

Another day, another day to live. The sun is already awake. Its
golden-yellow light glances at the leafy trees. The place was surrounded
by fog and fresh air. My eyes were full of green color. The sky was so
clear that I can’t see a cloud scattered everywhere. Birds were flying and
humming all around like there was no tomorrow ahead. Chickens started
to create a loud sound that energies the people’s minds. Flowers and
plants start to bloom and inhale fresh air. This feels unreal to me even
though I saw it every day. Some house was playing an OPM and 90’s
music and one of that is coming from my grandparent’s house. I can
smell each everyone’s house cooking their breakfast. People are starting
to clean their backyards. Children are starting to play their favorite
games in a wide playground will full of grass. And newborn babies are
having their morning routine with the sunlight together with their parents
outside. This is what life I wanted to live in the province.
Autobiography
Mirrorball
Alkhan Ibarrientos was born on May 6, 2005, in San Lorenzo Ruiz,
Camarines Norte. We are four members of the family. I have one sibling and she is
Ms. Ashlee Fe Ibarrientos. We’re attending the same school San Felipe National High
School. My mother’s name is Legorda Ibarrientos, she owns a sari-sari store and my
father’s name is Ardex Ibarrientos, he is a driver. However, I grew up with my Lola
and lolo in their lovely house in San Antonio.

I really love to watch movies and play Badminton but recently, I started to
read stories on Wattpad such as the works of inksteady and gwy sales. I also love
playing video games like Mobile Legends and Minecraft. I am very close with female
friends and classmates. I joined the YES-O club when I was in fifth grade. My
definition of achievement is the things that most people do not consider as one. The
first achievement is that I was being one of the students in Section 1 class in sixth
grade because I came from Section 2 class in first grade to fifth grade.

Everything changed when I entered Junior High School. He became a

consistent honor student. Now that he’s a Senior High School student, everything is
new to him. I experienced social anxiety when COVID-19 hit. I wasn’t able to
connect with other people. I just lock myself in my room all day and spend my time
on social media, but, now I’m regretting it. I am no longer the person who was happy
to study and I experienced being a slow learner. Despite being a slow learner, he
manages to keep space with his classmates.

These days, I’m into music. I listen to Taylor Swift and OPM songs a lot. I
love reading stories and copying the steps I watched on TikTok. Also, because of the
influence of Minecraft games, I always have this dream in my head where I’m
designing a house.
Personal essay
White shadow
Everything was great until the darkness comes out of its box. The lively world
turns upside down. People suffered in a huge hole in which you can’t see a sunrise of
the sun. You can see the eyes of the world with a lot of pain and scratches. Thought
the world has come to an end.

Weeks before the news, my life of being a student is light like the sky.
Nothing to worried but only my school works which isn’t even hard. I was happy
back then with my classmates and best friend eating in the cafeteria with a lot of
smiles on our faces. However, there’s news that shocked the world that I thought
wasn’t being big deal. Classes were suspended and the country was locked down. The
spread of the virus creates a wonderful and memorable experience in my life. Months
after the virus outbreak, my life was wonderful, and having time with my family. But,
I slowly regretted it when the virus celebrated an anniversary. That’s when I felt a
different feeling that I couldn’t even control. Anxiousness creates a big crack in my
world at that time. I am an overthinker, shy, have mood swings, cry, and more which
affects my mental health. Wake, eat and sleep, the never-ending cycle of my everyday
life. Miserable, that’s what my life I’m in when that virus hits. But, with the help of
my best friends and cousins, I was able to stand on the ground and break the huge
rocks that blocking my life.

Realizing that put me on a different level. I realized that time is gold. I

realized so many mistakes that if I could turn back the time, I will correct everything
I’ve done wrong. But, I realized that who I am today is what experiences and mistakes
I’ve done before. Failure is not always a mistake. Failure is not the opposite of
success, it’s part of success.
Travelogue
Summer I Turned Happy
I didn’t think that I could do a lot of things in one day. It was more than
enough. My family and I went to Baguio city during the summer when I was a kid and
it was an unforgettable experience.

It was summer and the school year was over, my mom planned to visit her
cousin and niece in Baguio City and attend her brother’s wedding for two days. At
first, I wasn’t thrilled because I thought it was just an ordinary place. Also, I didn’t
agree with my mother at first because it was a very far place and I was going to throw
up on the bus again, but eventually, I agreed. When we arrived in Baguio City, I felt a
cold breeze so I put on thick pants and a jacket. There were many people in the place
when we arrived. It was my first time coming here so I’m new to the place. And
because it’s summer, it’s not too cold here, unlike Christmas which is very cold. We
are only here for a one-day trip because we will be going home the next day evening.
Because of that, my aunts toured us around every tourist spot in the place. When we
went to every spot, I realized that this place is also stunning as hell. As I remembered,
we went to Strawberry Farms, Wright Park, Burnham Park, and some tourist spots
that I couldn’t even remember now. In those three places, I mostly enjoy the
Strawberry Farms because of the beautiful plump red strawberries. I have so much fun
that time that I even remember what I experience in that place. As we entered the
farm, I was so shocked and happy because it was my first to see a big farm. The farm
was full of green and red colors with a few people walking and picking a strawberry.
I started to grab a basket and pick the berries by myself. I picked and tasted the plump
red strawberries and it was the very delicious strawberry that I’ve ever tasted in my 9
years of existence. It was the happiest but shortest day of vacation that I experienced.
Everything was beautiful and wholesome. I hope I could back again and stay for a
week
