STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

1. Personal Details: Introduce yourself with your Name, AGE, single/married (inc. date of marriage and partner
name) /de facto/children. Avoid Hi/Hello or any informal language.

2. Education History: Mention your educational qualifications along with the full Name of Course and College
and the Year you graduated.

3. Employment History: In Chronological order of the year since graduation, gist out your Position and
Company name you’ve worked for until present & address ALL gaps.

4. Travel History: Share international travel(s) where you have been to and returned to the Philippines/current
residency with proof of travels such as passport stamp(s), boarding pass(es), visa copies.

5. Why choose this course: Mention the full name of the course you are choosing to study & Explain ‘why’ you
chose this course and how it relates to your previous education and/or work experience. How will this
course benefit you personally? Look up the course content on the college website to find out the Duration,
total units (including no. of core & electives) covered for your course and the course outcome. Mention
atleast 2-3 subjects which you believe would be directly beneficial to you and in what way in your own
words. Mention yearly tuition fees.

6. Why choose Australia: Do some research on internet ‘Why study in Australia?’ and get information from a
student perspective, not from a tourist point of view. Emphasize the benefits of studying in Australia in
comparison to your home country and other English-speaking countries like UK/US in your own words. Some
obvious benefits include the high quality of education, cost of tuition fees, globally recognized degree and so
on. You can make a comparison to US and UK in terms of Tuition fee (google). Also include reasons for not
studying in your home country/current residing country.

7. Why choose this city (campus): Mention couple of advantages for a student studying in the city you have
chosen.

8. Why choose this education provider/college: Look up the chosen college website and find advantages of
studying there mentioned on their website pertaining specifically to that college. Usually they can be found
under the ‘About’ section or ‘Why study with us/why choose us?’ section on the college websites. You
should also draw a comparison with couple of other colleges/unis in terms of tuition fees, location etc.

9. Future plans/Return on Investment (ROI): Start out with ‘After completion of my degree in Australia, I will
be returning home to my family to apply as….’. Career plans should be specific mentioning the ‘ positions’
you will apply after the course, the ‘organizations’, and ‘average salary’ you’d be earning in local currency.
Do research about your own career prospects. Justify how this course will boost your current situation and
how investing this much amount of money in this qualification would directly benefit you towards your
future goals.

10. Job Offer Opportunities Upon returning to the Philippines or other country of current residence after the
completion of studies.

11. Costs involved with studying and living in Australia: Give the breakdown of your total costs per year. Annual
Living Costs $21,041 + Annual Tuition fees ……… + Return Airfare $2000 approx. = Total of….. per year (round

12. Student Visa Conditions: Do some research and include knowledge of the student visa conditions such as
health insurance, course progress, work limitation etc.
