STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

This is to highlight the requirement of Statement of Purpose as part of student applications


henceforth. Please note these points are just a guide and can be different for every applicant depending
upon their individual circumstances.

1. Information about student’s Personal introduction.


2. Information about student’s family background.
3. Detailed information of academic career starting from Year 10 th / High School to the highest
qualification undertaken by the applicant mentioning Date, Month & Year of commencement &
Date, Month& Year of completion, percentage, school/college + board/university affiliated with &
subjects studied.
4. Also mention about your school or college day – mention about workshops, projects, internships,
extra-curricular activities, etc.
5. Detailed information of work experience gained (if any) Date, Month & Year of commencement &
Date, Month& Year of completion, company name, role & responsibilities, etc.
6. Gap explanation – after completing you studies till date activities for example IELTS, training,
competitive exams, etc.
7. Why you are looking for further studies? Include why are you are interested in that course,
research done about that course in India and mention universities and college of India with
course you checked, then conclusion
8. Then what research did about other countries (mention name of the universities of other
countries). Compare all the countries and mention points about why you did not opt that
country.
9. Reasons highlighting why Australia is the preferred destination. (mention research about courses
and universities, name them (at least 6-7 universities)
10. Reasons highlighting why you have chosen this University – Mention all kind of rankings, its
origin, number of campuses, student support services, course affiliations and other facilities, etc.
11. Awareness about the chosen program– Applicant should be able to demonstrate
knowledge about the program, how many credits you will earn at the end of the course, its core units /
elective courses units, teaching facilities and internship element if applicable, course benefits,
etc.
12. How the program will benefit the applicant in career growth?
13. Detailed information on future career plans – highlighting the intended area/job
title/designation, targeted companies for employment upon returning to home country and
expected salary (please note the quoted expected salary should be realistic and based on
market/industry trends). Apart from this you can mention links as a source.
14. Reasons highlighting the incentives to return back to home country – family
circumstances, family assets – net worth of the family fixed and liquid assets
15. Obligations of a student under higher education visa subclass 500 (include all the visa regulation,
financial arrangement and accommodation research in Australia)

As stated above, these are just a few points that an applicant may use in his/ her Statement of Purpose
(SOP). We would strongly urge you to request your students to necessarily write their SOP in their own
words. Please ensure that applicant does not quote phrases stated by others.
