Characters:
Bantugan
Balatama- Son of Bantugan

Sister of the Princess
Spanish General
General’s Brother
Insights:
The story of Bantugan shows how people fight for what he wants and how one
can sacrifice even his son just to get it and is willing to give everything. The story also
tells us that material things are not as important as our loved ones. People are willing to
fight and die for love and get what they want. I could say that this story is a good one,
because it shows the love of family, relationships and love to his people.
Elegy for a Tortoise
Settings:
Siquijor
Characters:
Old Man
First persona
Tortoise
Insights:
The Poem Elegy for a tortoise tells about how a person sees a group of old men
hunt a tortoise in the fourth stanza and tells that the tortoise being hunted is very old.
Also I think this poem is a representation of Life and Depth. It tells how the living can do
what it takes to survives and the death has nothing to do but to crawl for its life and
eventually sees the afterlife.
