BS CRIM III SECTION 2

1. What are the importances in studying drugs?

Since, drugs are very influential mostly to youths. Drug education is important to learn and give
knowledge about the effects and use of drugs. Drug education can play a counterbalancing role in
forming a normative culture of protection, moderation and responsible decision-making. It offers the
awareness required to prevent dangerous circumstances and facts in order to make better personal
decisions. It also helps to establish personal methods to escape toxic peers and the underlying societal
stress associated with drug use in social scenarios.

2. Expalin this " all medicines are drugs, but not all drugs are medicine drugs."

A medication, as opposed a medicine, can have a positive and negative effect on a person. As an
example, heroin is a drug because it is a substance that produces a particular biological effect. Heroin is
not, however, classified as a drug that helps prevent, relieves or treats a symptom, aiment or condition
of illness. Under the way, heroin is not a drug at all.

3. Explain the definition of drug. Drug is a chemical substance that brings about physical, physiological,
and/or psychological change in a person taking it.

When a person takes drugs, depending on the drug intake. It alters the body's function either
physically or psychologically. For example, a sick person takes a drug to heal or cure a symptom.
Psychoactive medications affect the central nervous system and change the behavior, thought and
action of an individual. Psychoactive medications can be classified into four categories: depressants,
stimulats, hallucinogens and others.

4. What are the differences between dangerous drugs and drug abuse?

Dangerous drugs are those with a strong propensity to misuse and dependence. They may be
herbal or pharmaceutical and effect those who consume them. Drug misuse occurs when an individual
chooses yo use a drug rather than its intended intent. This continuous use will lead to drug dependency
a state of physical and psychological dependence , or both to a dangerous drug.

5. Give the differences between natural drugs to synthetic drugs.

In natural drugs, lead compounds come from natural products, such as plants. Whereas in
synthetic drugs, lead compounds are usually developed in laboratories by mixture chemistry, a
technique that produces hundreds to millions of molecules from smaller chemical building blocks.
