MY DREAM COMMUNITY

Answer the following questions:

1. What are the current challenges/hindrances to the realization of this "dream community"?

The COVID-19 pandemic and major community problems such as poverty, crime, racism,
shortage, and a lot more are the current challenges/hindrances that I think of in coming up with
my dream community. I know that challenges are normal occurrences in life but I also believe
that our community would be a better place if people are all centered in love, justice, and peace.
With this being said, I was able to come up with an illustration that presents the characteristics of
my dream community.

2. What must you do to lessen if not remove those hindrances and what is the role of your
faith in all of these?

It may seem like a small gesture but I believe that making a donation, checking up those who
are vulnerable, volunteering, expressing gratitude, and practicing self-care are some great ways
in order to lessen those hindrances. It might be easy to feel powerless in this time of pandemic
but I believe that all of us can make a difference. During this hard times, I bring my true
emotions, the conversations I have with others as well as their concerns, into my prayer. I lay
them at the feet of Jesus, to whom I have grown in trust and confidence. It is His wisdom and
love that gives me confidence and hope, even when my emotions struggle. With this being said, I
think we should bring every emotion, fear, doubt and concern to Him. Saying out loud how we
feel to God allows Him to respond back in our heart and through others and there can be spiritual
peace.

3. How is your dream community similar (or different) to the Church's dream community?
(Read the lesson: "The Church's Dream Community" for your reference)

I believe that my dream community and the Church's dream community have characteristics
that are in common as it is both a place where people resides and grow. In the Church's dream
community, people are responsible, loving, and knows how to reach out to others and become the
source of their awareness and life. This is similar to the people of my dream community as these
people are the ones who know how to love others, to become the best version of themselves, as
well as to follow God’s will. I believe that if all people know that they are called to walk in the
light of Christ, people will be able to shine that light into the lives of others through
relationships that literally give life to others. These relationships are powerful and can really help
each of us become the person that God has called us to be. My dream community is a community
where everyone is respected and everyone is treated as a friend. A community where negativity,
hatred and disrespect has no place. There is a term “bayanihan” in which people are willing to
help others without expecting something in return. Overall, I think that the characteristics of my
community and the Church's dream community are exactly similar to each other as I realized that
both have a certain goal to make people grow more and more and strive for a consistent action. It
is both a community who doesn’t settle with “pwede na’ or “bahala na”. Instead, they give their
very best to not just solve the current problem but also solve the future ones in taking action for
the betterment of the community.
