In the beginning education was for the boys of the upper class. They would

have and education that would be to the current sixth grade. It would be these boys

that would go to university or college, some would take over the family business

but above all they would have an education. Then would come the time when the

classroom would then become more diverse in the way thing have been taught.

Over the last few years it is very important to become all inclusive. It is important

the classroom provide an area where the student have their needs met.

Philosophy of Special Education

We need education because it is the building blocks of society. There are

many different ways that the student or students learn best; some of these examples

are tactile, writing, and reading. It is with a good learning environment students

can and have the ability to learn in these many different ways. All students must

have the following needs met to have the ability to learn, they need to feel safe and

secure, food, and a cultural responsive materials, also have a relationship with

peers and staff. Schools provide this by having hot lunch and breakfast, and

teachers in the first two or three weeks build the relationship by providing the

safety and security that is needed. Educators have to be caring, engagement, fun

and above all understanding.

Purpose of Education

Educators take the state or federals standards as a guideline to meet the

students’ needs but there are some students that have needs that do not correlate to

these standards therefore the IEP team would need to decide the most appropriate

areas of instruction that are needed. For example self care/personal care these

things are not listed in the standards, but would it be more important to be able to

zip up the coat to keep warm or is it multiplications. Education is not something

that comes easy to everybody sometimes there is difficulties for children. It is in

the classroom of a special education teacher that makes these difficulties easier on

the children.

Personal Vision

In my classroom my students will have a place where they can not only

come to learn but also have a safe place. My teaching will follow as much as

possible to the standards that are set federally and by the state. I will have the

ability to collaborate with my fellow faculty, the specialists that are needed, and

with the families of the students this team will be the IEP team that is needed to

make sure that the students will succeed in the classroom. With this team my

students will be able to have the gratification of being able to not only add and

subtract but also be able to tie their shoes or zip up their jackets.

Ethical Framework and Professional Practices

In the classroom things have to be in such a way that it includes challenges

and standards for maintaining the high expectations and quality of life that respects

culture, socioeconomic background, race, dignity and languages. (Ethical

principles and practice standards). With these challenges also comes the need to

collaborate with colleagues that provide specialized services for students with

unique needs. Having these students comes with having to develop the relationship

with family basing this on mutual respect and culturally unbiased. (Ethical

principles and practice standards). In history there has been a racial and ethnic gap.

This means that through the ages the white middle class student would receive

better instruction then the lower class Hispanic. Although this gap has been on the

decline it is still there. (Webb, L. D., Metha, A., & Jordan, K. F. (2012)). Due to

the past there is a need to make sure these students have culturally and

linguistically appropriate assessment procedures that are accurate and do not

discriminate.

The resources that a teacher can access are many it just depends on what

education. The few that have been found are

https://www.learningforjustice.org/classroom-resources and

https://www.teachervision.com/teaching-strategies/strategies-for-teaching-

culturally-diverse-students. These resources give many examples of how to have a

diverse classroom. Learning for justice helps the teachers to have the ability to be a

voice for the children in the classroom. This also gives many options on many of

the hot topics that are currently in the classroom and how to deal with them.

Resources

These days it is needed for teachers to have resources that lead to more

learning that makes it easier to run the classroom. These resources that will be used

be the ISTE and CEC these two resources will be a valuable asset in keeping the

classroom diverse. The CEC “With a broad range of benefits to supplement your

professional development, we have the tools and resources you need to support you

on your professional journey.” Ethical principles and practice standards. Council

for Exceptional Children. (n.d).” This particular resource is an in-depth place to

find and explore to improve on the journey of becoming an educator. ISTE has

classes that and educator can go to, to improve their skills in the classroom. It is

with these and other resources that it will be and accomplishment to have a very

diverse in all areas.

Conclusion

Knowing all these things is a lot of information about how to keep a diverse

and engaged classroom. Keeping things inclusive has been better than it has been

in the last hundred years or even in the last couple of decades. Learning the ABC’s

and the 1,2,3’s is so important to make sure that our future leaders understand what

needs to be done when it needs to be done.
