“The Wrath of Seth”

In the hot desert of Egypt, on Friday the 13 th, an excavation is being done. Nadine Malkovich, a well-
known archaeologist, is digging up ancient artifacts with her team. After digging for hours, they
discovered an ancient tablet inscribed in black ink.

Malkovich wanted to display the stone in the city museum back in Russia, but wants it translated. So
after packing up the equipment, she and her crew left the site and went to find a translator.

They appointed an elderly local called Chione who knows how to read the hieratic. It was exactly 12
midnight when it happened, under a full moon.

“Watch out not to take even a pebble from within it outside. An ancient evil will rise and the great
lords of the west will punish him.” Chione read. “I am not exactly an expert in ancient languages, so
my translation might be inaccurate.”

Suddenly, the lights in the room began to flicker, and thunder was booming in the distance.

“That was odd,” Malkovich said. “There shouldn’t be any thunderstorms in this time of the year.”

The excavation team decided to leave when suddenly, the ground trembled and eerie voices were
heard coming from the ground.

“What was that?” one of the staff asked out of fear.

Everyone turned to face Chione, who was just standing there, seemed to be unbothered.

“The wrath of Seth.” The old crone said. Then she morphed into a horrible-looking creature and
announced, “I will finally be able to fulfil my ancestors’ wishes into destroying the human race. A
plague will come and many people will suffer and won’t be able to see the light ever again!”

After that she disappeared, and the earthquake and thunder stopped. The next day, Malkovich and
her team returned the ancient tablet and left Egypt.
