Introduction
Dang Mengalai
is a traditional song originally derived from
shaman's or dakun chant that can make a fish
trap (bubu) dance.

Bubu made up of bamboo covered with black


cloth.

Dang Mengalai is now sang in various


occasions or used as a welcome dance.
Etmology
Dang Mengalai
Dang mengalai is an old Malay phrase
which means "Dance"

There is a specific dance performed in


Sabah called the Mengalai which is also
the same as " Pangalay" and "Mangalay"
of Sulo and Tawi tawi Philippines.
