    It is given that Person J can finish the work in 

    8 hours.
    The amount of work done by Person J's in 1 hour is 18.
    Also, Person L can finish the work in 6 hours.
    The amount of work done by Person L's in 1 hour is 16.
    So, the total amount of work done by both the person in 1 hour is calculated as:
    18+16=3+424=724
    The total amount of work done by both the person together in 1 hour is 724.
    The total amount of work done by both the person together in 2 hours is 724×2=712.
    Now, Person J left for lunch after 2 hours. So, the remaining work is 1-712=512.
    The remaining work is 512 that has to be completed by Person L.
    Since Person L can finish the work in 6 hours, the remaining work 512 will be done as:
    512×6=2.5
    Therefore, the required time to complete the remaining work by Person L is 2.5 hours.
