Steam: reference to the invention of steam machines in the 19th century during the Victorian Era
Punk: against any kind of convention + new creativity expressing each person’s individuality
1) It was a literary genre: a retro futuristic genre of Science Fiction that incorporates
technology and aesthetic designs inspired by the 19th century industrial steam-
powered machinery
2) A cultural movement that mixes technology/designs from the 19th century to Science
Fiction elements = modern technology powered by steam and created in the 1800s
and re-imagined as elaborate work of art, fashion and mechanics
3) A human desire to create, to be like God where imagination is important like in the
novels by Jules Verne who created non-existing machines to improve the present.
4) A lifestyle with special outfits and habits/customs belonging to the traditions born in
the 19th century in England.
