The Role of Media in Globalization

Is globalization does not need media for global integration? Before answering this
question, we should define globalization first. So, globalization is the term used to
portray the growing interdependence of the world’s economies, cultures and societies
through a global network of trade and communication in all respects. The globalization
shapes the different aspects of the world so as to bring changes for the better. It affects
the financial conditions of the country and also the industrial sector and the culture. It
widens the access to a range of foreign supplies for the consumption of a large number of
consumers, owing to the market planning policies adopted by various companies.

As the globalization becomes broad and as well as the mass media. I believe that
globalization needs media for global integration. But what is the role of media in
globalization? For me, it plays a great role in extension of globalization process. Why?
Because the media technologies such as internet, computers, television, etc that are
intended to reach a large audience by mass communication and have a dominant
influence on globalization. The media spreads through international news broadcasts,
new technologies, television programming, film and music. It can help in communication
and preserving the cultures of any country. It helps the world to connect in a network of
information that is easily accessible for all of us. Media is one of the ways to a global
integration. There is an increased access to a wide range of media which plays a very
important role in shaping human minds and has an immense impact in our society’s
personal lives. There is practically no globalization without media and communication.

Thus, globalization really needs media for global integration, and media
contributes to the remarkable progress in development in all-economic, social, political,
cultural and traditional aspects. Mass media have played special role in this globalization
which the world reach this we called “global village”.
