BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

SCRIPT

NARRATOR: Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, there was a young prince who
resided in a gleaming castle. Despite having all he could possibly want, the prince was
arrogant, conceited, and unkind. But one night, an elderly beggar woman knocked on
the door of the castle and gave him a single rose in exchange for shelter from the harsh
cold.

PRINCE: What are you doing here, old lady? How did you sneak inside my castle?

BEGGAR LADY: Good evening, Your Majesty. I'm only hoping you'll let me stay in for a
bit since I don't know where to stay in this freezing cold in return for this lovely magical
rose.

PRINCE: What kind of nonsense are you saying with this rose exchange? A disgusting
old lady like you has no right to dwell in my lovely castle. You are not welcome in my
fortress and must go immediately!

NARRATOR: The beggar old woman's voice magically changed into a truly charming
youthful tone.

BEGGAR: You must learn an important lesson. Beauty is not found in one's looks,
but rather inside oneself.

NARRATOR: The old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a gorgeous enchantress
as he rejected her. It was too late for the prince to apologize; she had already
determined that he had no kindness in his heart, and as a result, she cursed and
converted him into a horrible beast, as well as casting a terrible spell over the castle and
everyone who resided inside its walls, as punishment. The beast, embarrassed by his
hideous appearance, took refuge within his castle, with just a magic mirror serving as a
view to the outer world. The rose she had given him was genuinely an enchanted rose,
and it would continue to bloom until he reached the age of twenty-one. By the time the
last petal dropped, the spell would be broken if he could learn to love someone and win
her love in return. There was no way for him to return to his human form without it.
As the years went by, he became more despondent and gave up all hope. It is
impossible to fall in love with a wild animal.

(*Birds chirping music)

BELLE: What a beautiful day to roam in this town

BOOKSELLER: Ah, Belle!

BELLE: Good morning. Do you have any new books today?

BOOKSELLER: I'm so sorry to say but I haven't had any since yesterday!

BELLE: That's alright. Umm... (*Searching for the book) I'll borrow... this one instead
BOOKSELLER: But you've read it twice!

BELLE: Well, it's really my favorite book! Adventures, swordfights, and a prince covered
up! Oh, what a lovely story! (*In a very loving tone)

BOOKSELLER: Really oh belle, if you like it that much, it's yours now!

BELLE: But ma’am! Are you really sure–

BOOKSELLER: Yes, I insist Belle don't worry!

BELLE: Well, thank you very much! Oh, what a lovely day it is!

(*SINGING)

BELLE: Oh... isn't this amazing? It's my favorite part because ... you'll see! Here's
where she meets Prince Charming... But she won't discover that it's him 'till chapter
three!

NARRATOR: Belle sits on the edge of a fountain and starts singing to the sheep. On
the other hand, Gaston and Lefou is there chasing around geese.

LEFOU: You are the best world's best hunter!

GASTON: Yes, I am.

LEFOU: Huh! No beast alive can match you! Ha ha! No girl, either!

GASTON: Yes, Lefou. And I'm after that one! Beautiful stunning Belle.

LEFOU: The inventor's daughter?

GASTON: She's the one! The lucky beautiful girl I'll marry.

GASTON: She is stunning and the finest. Don't I deserve it?

LEFOU: Of course, but I mean...

GASTON: I've been in love with her since I first met her and saw her. She is the
gorgeous girl who deserves my handsomeness. I am sure that she’ll fall in love with
me, and we will get married.

NARRATOR: Gaston chases Belle.

GASTON: Belle…
BELLE: Hello, Gaston.

GASTON: You really love reading. Can you read? There are no photos!

BELLE: Well, some individuals are imaginative.

GASTON: A lady should not read at all.

NARRATOR: Ignores Gaston

GASTON: Wait! Belle! Let me take you into town to see my trophies.

BELLE: Maybe another time Gaston.

GASTON: But Belle…

BELLE: (*away from Gaston) Please, Gaston. I must get home to help my father.
Goodbye

LEFOU: Ha! That crazy old loon needs all the assistance he can get!

(*Gaston and Lefou burst out laughing)

BELLE: Don't insult my father!

BELLE: My father is not insane! He is gifted!

NARRATOR: An explosion nears Belle’s cottage. She opens the basement door,
startled by the smoke coming from it, and finds Maurice upside-down in a barrel.

BELLE: Papa? Are you alright, Papa?

MAURICE: I'm about to give up on this piece of junk!

BELLE: You always say that don't you Papa?

MAURICE: I'm serious. This useless contraption will never work!

BELLE: No, I know that you'll win the fair tomorrow. And become a world’s famous
inventor!

MAURICE: You really think so?

BELLE: I always will.

MAURICE: So, what are we waiting for? I'll fix this in no time! Don't worry, because this
invention will start a new life for us. That's done it. Now let's try it.

NARRATOR: Maurice and Belle duck at first, until they realize the machine is actually
cutting wood.

BELLE: It works!

MAURICE: Yes!

BELLE: You did it!

MAURICE: Hook up Phillipe. I am going to the fair!

BELLE: Goodbye, Papa! Wish you luck!

MAURICE: Goodbye, Belle! And be safe while I am away! (*Lovely song)

NARRATOR: Belle's father Maurice and their horse Phillipe continue their journey until
they get lost.

MAURICE: We'll be there soon. Maybe we got lost. I should've taken a... wait,
something’s wrong...

NARRATOR: His lantern shines on the road. But there are too many confusing signs.
Choosing a dark overgrown path over a sunny path with birds singing, Maurice believes
it's a shortcut. Then they heard roaring and saw a pack of wolves. And the wolves
chased them. They run through the woods, dodging obstacles to a cliff edge. So Phillipe
runs, leaving Maurice on the cliff.

MAURICE: Phillipe? No!

NARRATOR: When he glances up, the wolves started growling at him. He fell a hill and
lands at the castle's gate. He opens the gate trembling, terrified. He closes the gate
quickly. He hurries to the castle door, and it creaks open. Maurice enters cautiously.

MAURICE: Hello? Is there anyone here?

NARRATOR: Lumiere and Cogsworth are watching Maurice from a table near the
entrance.

MAURICE: Is anyone there?

MAURICE: Hello, I'm sorry to disturb, but I have lost my horse and need a place to stay
overnight.
LUMIERE: Of course, monsieur!

NARRATOR: Lumiere started talking. Puzzled Maurice, wondering where the sound
was coming from.

MAURICE: (*confused) Who said that?

NARRATOR: He picks up the candlestick for light, blissfully unaware to the speaker.

LUMIERE: Hey, look over here!

NARRATOR: Maurice dropped Lumiere (the candlestick) in shock that it began talking.
He was amazed and mesmerized. Cogsworth stood up and spoke. Maurice examines
Cogsworth for it is amazing to see a talking object.

COGSWORTH: Put me down!

MAURICE: Oh! Pardon me, I'm sorry, I’m just really fascinated for I've never seen a
talking clock before. (*sneezes)

LUMIERE: Oh, monsieur, you're completely soaked. Come in and take a seat by the fire
to warm yourself up.

MAURICE: I appreciate your kindness.

NARRATOR: Cogsworth tries to stop Lumiere because he knows their master will be
furious if he finds out. Moreover, Maurice has seen spectacular objects that serve him,
including the pot and the cup.

MRS. POTTS: How about a nice cup of tea sir? It will quickly warm you up.

NARRATOR: She fills Chip with tea.

CHIP: Ha ha! Mommy, his moustache tickles!

NARRATOR: The cup startled Maurice.

MAURICE: Oh Hello! Little fella.

NARRATOR: The den door slams, and a strong gust of wind enters, extinguishing
Lumiere's flames. Cogsworth dives for cover. Mrs. Potts trembles. Chip re-boards the
tea cart and hides behind his mother.
NARRATOR: The Beast enters. He's on all fours walking. He searches the gloomy
landscape. When Maurice saw the Beast, he felt so terrified.

CHIP: Oh no!

BEAST: (*Growling his words) There's a stranger here. Who are you? What exactly are
you doing in this place?

MAURICE: (*frightened) I was lost in the woods and...

BEAST: You are not welcome in this place.

MAURICE: I'm really sorry

BEAST: What exactly are you looking at?

MAURICE: Ah! Noth– nothing!

MAURICE: Please, I meant no harm! I just needed a place to stay, t- that's all.

BEAST: I'll provide you with a place to stay!

NARRATOR: The Beast picks up Maurice and drags him out of the room.

(*Fade out)

NARRATOR: While Belle waits for her father. Gaston has planned an outdoor wedding.
Gaston knocked on Belle's door and she opened it, thinking it was her father. In the next
scene, Gaston informs Belle that he plans to marry a lovely lady. And he claimed she
was the lucky one. Sadly, Belle declined Gaston's offer, for she does not feel the same
way. Belle walked out and made sure Gaston’s gone.

BELLE: (*To the chickens) Me? The wife of that boorish, brainless– Madame
Gaston can't you just see it Madame Gaston, his little wife Not me, no sir, I
guarantee it I want much more than this provincial life–

NARRATOR: Phillipe dashes into the field. Noticed that her father is not with Phillipe.
Belle immediately rushes to find her father. Phillipe takes Belle to his father's location.
And immediately went to the castle to find his father.

BELLE: Papa? Where are you, Papa? Hello is anyone there? I'm looking for my father.
NARRATOR: Lumiere felt super excited when he sees a girl in the castle that can help
them break a curse. And the news about the girl has circulated throughout the castle.
Belle proceeds a narrow hallway. Then found her father locked in the cell.

BELLE: Oh, Papa!

MAURICE: How did you find me?

BELLE: Oh, your hands are like ice. We have to get you out of here.

MAURICE: Belle, I want you to leave this place.

BELLE: What happened?

MAURICE: No time to explain. You must go...now!

BELLE: I won't leave you!

NARRATOR: Suddenly the beast showed up.

BEAST: What are you doing here?

MAURICE: Run, Belle!

BELLE: Who's there? Who are you?

BEAST: The head of this castle.

BELLE: I've come for my father. Please let him out!

BEAST: Then he shouldn't have trespassed my castle.

BELLE: But he could possibly die. Please, I will do anything that you want! Just please
let him out.

BEAST: There's nothing you can do. He is my prisoner now.

BELLE: Oh, there must be some way! Please, take me, instead!

BEAST: You! Would you take his place?

MAURICE: Belle! No! You do not know what you are doing!
BELLE: If I did, would you let him go?

BEAST: Yes, but you must promise to stay here forever.

MAURICE: No, Belle. I won't let you do this!

BELLE: You have my word.

BEAST: Okay, done!

NARRATOR: The beast drags Maurice out of the castle. The beast threw Maurice into
the palanquin and ordered it to take him to the village.

MAURICE: Please let me out!

NARRATOR: Beast enters Belle's cell where she is still crying.

BELLE: You didn't even give me the opportunity to say goodbye. I'm never going to see
him again. (*crying)

BEAST: (*feeling bad) I'll take you to your room.

BELLE: (*surprised) My room? But I thought—

BEAST: You want to stay in this place?

BELLE: No!

BEAST: Then follow me.

NARRATOR: Beast takes Belle to her room. She looks at the outrageous sculptures on
the walls and their shadows as they walk. Fearful, she runs after Beast, who is carrying
Lumiere as a light source.

LUMIERE: Speak to her.

BEAST: Hmm? Oh. (*to Belle) I hope you enjoy it here. You can now go anywhere in
the castle except the West Wing.

BELLE: (*curious) What's in the West Wing? Why can’t I go there?

BEAST: (*stopping angrily) It's forbidden! I said what I said, you cannot enter or go
there.
BEAST: (*tenderly) Now, my servants will attend to your needs.

LUMIERE: (*whispering) Dinner—invite her.

BEAST: (*angry) You... need to join me for dinner. It's not a proposal!

NARRATOR: Beast exits, slamming the door. Belle rushes to the bed, flinging herself
onto it and sobbing. While her father has arrived in the village. Nobody believed Maurice
when he said Belle needed help!

MAURICE: People won't help me even if I ask for it. My friends and family believe I'm
crazy, but I'm telling the truth. What will I do?

(*Fade out)

NARRATOR: When someone knocked on the door, Belle was shocked to see objects
talking.

BELL: Is this true?

MRS. POTTS: My dear, you have shown incredible courage and bravery.

BELLE: Thank you, but I lost my father.

WARDROBE: So, what shall we wear for dinner? Let's see what I've got. Ah! You'll
look stunning in this one!

BELLE: Thank you, but I'm not going to dinner.

WARDROBE: Oh, but!

NARRATOR: When Cogsworth told the beast that Belle wouldn't join him for dinner, the
beast became enraged. He approached and banged the door.

BEAST: (*yelling) I thought I told you to come down for dinner!

BELLE: (*from behind the closed door) I'm not hungry at all. Leave me alone!

BEAST: If you don't go, I'll smash the door down!

LUMIERE: (*interrupting) There must be a better way for you to win her love than this,
Master.
COGSWORTH: Please! Be a gentleman to her, master.

BEAST: (*growing angrier) But she is hard to please.

MRS. POTTS: Gently, be gentle.

BEAST: (*trying to be formal by bowing at the door) It would be an honor if you could
join me for dinner.

COGSWORTH: Say, please master.

BEAST: (*again, dejected) ...please.

BELLE: (*angry at Beast) No thanks. I am not hungry at all!

BEAST: (*furious) You can't stay in there forever!

BELLE: (*provocatively) Yes, I can!

BEAST: Fine! Then STARVE! (*to objects) She will never eat if she doesn’t join me for
dinner!

(*Fade out)

NARRATOR: talking to his enchanted magical mirror.

BEAST: I politely ask, but she refuses what– does she want me to beg? Show me the
girl.

NARRATOR: The Magic Mirror shines, revealing Belle in her bedroom, talking to the
Wardrobe

WARDROBE: The master isn't that horrible once you know him. Give him a chance.

BELLE: I'm not interested in him. I don't want to know him!

BEAST: (*sighs) It's hopeless. I'm simply deceiving myself. She'll always view me as a
monster.

NARRATOR: Belle decided to leave her chamber and explore the castle, ending up in
the kitchen, where she heard amazing sounds.
COGSWORTH: Lovely to see you out and about, mademoiselle. I am Cogsworth, the
household head.

BELLE: I'm starting to get hungry.

FRIENDLY POTTS: You are? Heard it? She's starving. Bring out everything and
prepare the most delicious food.

COGSWORTH: (*quietly) Remember the master's words.

MRS. POTTS: I won't allow the child go hungry.

COGSWORTH: Okay. Water, fruits, and then—

LUMIERE: Cogsworth, I am surprised. Neither are we. She’s, our guest. We

must welcome her. (*to Belle) This way, mademoiselle.

COGSWORTH: Okay, calm down. If the master finds out, we're in a big trouble!

LUMIERE: Of course.

NARRATOR: They prepare wonderful meals for Belle to eat. And Belle loved their
company.

NARRATOR: Then Belle decided to tour the palace, going to the prohibited West wing.
But as she approaches Beast's lair, her joy fades. Belle entered. What she sees
astounds her. A destroyed portrait. Belle reaches out and reveals the prince in the
picture fragments. She sees a lovely rose in the opposite direction, for she is really
amazed. Then the Beast arrives and catches her looking at the magical rose.

BEAST: (*furious) Why did you come here?

BELLE: (*frightened) I'm so sorry.

BEAST: I told you not to come here!

BELLE: I meant no harm.

BEAST: Do you know what you could have done?

NARRATOR: beseechingly afraid

BELLE: Stop! No!

BEAST: (*Screaming) Get out! Go! LEAVE!

NARRATOR: Belle and Philippe hurry down the hill and out of the palace. But then,
they’ve encountered a pack of wolves and it started to chase them down. The Beast
showed up and saved them. Beast becomes fatigued after rushing to Belle. Though
happy to have survived, Belle feels impelled to check on the Beast who has fallen
before carrying on with Phillipe. Beast rides back to the castle with Belle and Phillipe.
Returning to the castle, Belle began to heal the beast's wounds.

BELLE: I'll check. Hold still.

BEAST: (*the Beast screams in agony) Ouch!

BELLE: It would hurt less if you stayed still.

BEAST: If you hadn't left, this wouldn't have happened!

BELLE: I wouldn't have left if you hadn't scared me!

BEAST: You shouldn't have been in the West Wing!

BELLE: You'd better learn to control your temper! Hold steady. This may hurt a little.....

BELLE: Thank you for saving my life.

BEAST: (*tenderly) You're welcome.

NARRATOR: The next day, Belle is outside with Phillipe and Footstool. Beast, together
with Cogsworth and Lumier looked at her.

BEAST: I've never felt this strongly about someone. (*excited) I want to help her.
What?

COGSWORTH: Well, there's the usual: flowers, chocolates...

LUMIERE: No, it must be something unique that piques her.

BEAST: Belle, I have something to show you.

BEAST: But first, close your eyes. It's a huge surprise.

NARRATOR: Beast waves his hand in front of Belle, who closes her eyes. Beast moves
away to open the curtains. Then, a dazzling sunlight streams in. Belle flinches as the
light hits her.

BELLE: Can I now open them?

BEAST: All right. Now.

NARRATOR: Belle opens her eyes, revealing a massive library full of books. And she is
awestruck by the beauty of the library and the number of books on each shelf.

BELLE: I'm speechless. I've never seen so many books!

BEAST: Like it? It will all be yours.

BELLE: I love it. Oh, thank you so much.

MRS. POTTS: Look at that!

LUMIERE: Ha! I had a feeling it would all work out.

COGSWORTH: It's wonderful.

NARRATOR: The objects discussed the possibility of breaking the curse if the beast
and belle fall in love. They will eventually return to their actual selves, resuming their
human form. They have started cleaning the palace for the beast and Belle's special
night. The Beast is getting ready. On his way to Belle's big night.

LUMIERE: The time has come!

BEAST: I'm not sure I can do this.

LUMIERE: Don't be shy. You must be brave.

LUMIERE: Music will play. You will have a romantic night, and when the moment is
right, confess your love!

BEAST: No, I cannot.

LUMIERE: You like the girl?

BEAST: More than anything.

LUMIERE: Then tell her.

BEAST: How?

LUMIERE: You'll know because you'll feel it in here, and you must speak from the heart.

BEAST: No, I can't.

LUMIERE: What do you fear?

BEAST: I fear she may... Laugh at me.

COGSWORTH: Master, the rose! Time is running out!

LUMIERE: My prince, you must find the guts to risk it. You can do this.

NARRATOR: When Belle enters, Cogsworth and Lumiere are across the room from the
nervous Beast. As they reach the last staircase. They began to dance to a lovely music.
And their eyes were filled with love, as they danced in the beautiful ballroom.

(*SINGING)

MRS. POTTS: Tale as old as time, true as it can be, barely even friends then
somebody bends unexpectedly. Just a little change, small to say the least, both a
little scared, neither one prepared, beauty and the beast… Ever just the same,
ever a surprise. Ever as before, ever just as sure as the sun will rise. Tale as old
as time, tune as old as song. Bittersweet and strange, finding you can change,
learning you were wrong. Certain as the sun, rising in the east. Tale as old as
time, song as old as rhyme, beauty and the beast. Tale as old as time, Song as
old as rhyme, beautyand the beast...

NARRATOR: Belle and Beast are on the balcony under the beautiful starry night having
a conversation.

BELLE: Thanks for the wonderful day.

BEAST: Belle? Are you enjoying your stay with me?

BELLE: (*reluctantly) Yes, but....

BELLE: (*desperately) If only I could see my father again. I really miss him.
BEAST: There is a way for that, here I'll show you... This mirror will show you whatever
you want to see.

BELLE: Please let me see my father.

NARRATOR: Belle turns aside as the magic mirror flashes. Then showed Maurice lost
in the woods, coughing. The beast is worried about her. He let Belle go to her father and
gave the magic mirror

BEAST: Keep it so you can remember me.

BELLE: Oh, thank you very much. And thank you for seeing how much he needs me.
NARRATOR: She runs out, her hand on his cheek.

BEAST: (*sad) I let her go.

COGSWORTH: Yes, yes. Splend— (*pauses) Why?

BEAST: I had to.

COGSWORTH: (*amazed) But why?

BEAST: I really love her. And I want to make her happy.

COGSWORTH: Was he serious?

MRS. POTTS: Unfortunately, it is.

CHIP: She's leaving?

LUMIERE: But he was close.

MRS. POTTS: He's finally learnt to love.

LUMIERE: Okay, then. That should be enough to break the spell.

MRS. POTTS: It isn't enough. She must love him back.

COGSWORTH: It's too late.

(*Fade out)

NARRATOR: The Beast watched Belle leave. He sobs and rages. BELLE is out in the
snow, calling out, "Papa?" She finally finds him in a snowbank. MAURICE opened his
eyes and sees Belle.
MAURICE: Belle?

BELLE: It's fine, Papa. I've returned home.

MAURICE: I thought I'd lost you. But the beast. What happened?

BELLE: No, Papa. He released me.

MAURICE: That horrible beast?

BELLE: But now he's changed.

NARRATOR: The Asylum D, Wagon where they put Maurice because they suspect her
father is insane and claims to have seen the beast.

LEFOU: Maurice. Again, how huge was the beast, old man?

MAURICE: (*stumbling) Well, he was gigantic. I'd estimate eight to ten feet.

(*CROWD LAUGHS)

LEFOU: It doesn't get much crazier.

BELLE: Please don't take my father!

GASTON: If I can clear up this small misunderstanding...

BELLE: If, What?

GASTON: If you marry me, of course.

BELLE: What?

GASTON: One word, Belle. That's it.

BELLE: Never!

GASTON: Do things your way.

BELLE: Oh, no! I can prove my father isn't insane! Show me the beast!

NARRATOR: The magic mirror sparkled, revealing the despondent Beast.

WOMAN 1: Oh, it's so terrifying it might hurt us all.

BELLE: (*reassuring her) No. He would never do harm. Please, he appears violent, yet
he is nice and compassionate. He is my dear friend.

GASTON: I'm sure you are an admirer of this hideous monster.

BELLE: No monster, Gaston.

GASTON: She, too, is insane, just like her father. Your children will be taken by the
beast! He'll go after them at night when they are most helpless and weak.

BELLE: No!

GASTON: As long as I have his head plastered on my wall, I will not give up. I propose
that we put an end to it!

EVERYONE: "kill him"

MAN 1: We're not safe till he's dead!

WOMAN 1: We will kill him for the sake of our families and for the safety of all.

MAN 2: He'll destroy our town and he will put us all in danger. If we do not kill it, who
will?

GASTON: Okay, boys, it is time to act. Follow me!

NARRATOR: Gaston brainwashes and manipulates the people. They are all out to kill
the Beast now.

LUMIERE: Maybe Belle would have not come at all.

NARRATOR: They rush to the window expecting Belle's return.

LUMIERE: Could it possibly be?

MRS. POTTS: Is that her?

LUMIERE: (*realizing that it's not Belle) invaders! They have the mirror!
COGSWORTH: (*ordering) Warn the master. We'll fight if they want to fight. Who's with
me?

GASTON: Remember the beast is mine to kill!

NARRATOR: Mrs. Potts, rush up by telling the Beast what's going on.

MRS. POTTS: Apologies, master.

BEAST: Go away.

MRS. POTTS: But, sir, the castle is being attacked!

VILLAGERS: Kill the beast!

LUMIERE: We must take action!

(*to BEAST'S den)

MRS. POTTS: What now, master?

BEAST: It doesn't matter now. Let them in.

VILLAGERS: Kill the beast!!

NARRATOR: After successfully breaking in, the Villagers are greeted by a grand
entrance adorned with numerous items of furniture, teacups, candlesticks, and clocks.

LUMIERE: Now!!!

NARRATOR: All the items come to life and fight their human attackers. While Belle
and her father are still trapped in the basement, Chip uses Maurice's invention to help
them escape.

BELLE: Chip, thank you.

CHIP: That is really incredible!

BELLE: Let's head to the castle.

NARRATOR: Back to the castle where the attack continues. Finally, the invaders are
driven out, and the objects rejoice and celebrate their victory. Meanwhile, Gaston finds
the Beast’s lair. He aims his crossbow at the Beast’s shoulder. He stands up and
screams.

GASTON: Ha ha ha ha!

GASTON: Rise! Rise! What's up, Beast? Too weak and kind to fight.

BELLE: No! (*yelling for GASTON to stop)

BEAST: (*upon hearing her voice, it gave him the courage to fight) Belle! you've
returned!

NARRATOR: The Beast and Gaston fought on the rooftop.

GASTON: Let's fight! Doubtful that she'd want you when she had someone like me

NARRATOR: This time, Beast grabs Gaston by the neck and dangles him over the
edge of the roof. Gaston begs Beast.

GASTON: Don't hurt me! Please!!!

BEAST: Leave! And never return!

NARRATOR: He knocks Gaston down. Belle emerges from a balcony.

BELLE: Beast!

BEAST: Belle!

NARRATOR: Gaston creeps up behind Beast and stabs him in the back. Belle is
helpless as Beast roars. He pulls the knife and swings back for another.

GASTON: I'll kill you!!!

NARRATOR: Beast falls, pulling Gaston off balance and disappears. Belle lifts the
injured Beast onto the balcony, where he collapses.

BEAST: You returned…

BELLE: Of course. I couldn't... It's all my fault. If only I'd arrived sooner.
BEAST: This is better.

BELLE: Don't talk like that. You will be okay. We are reunited. It'll be all right. See.

BEAST: I got to see you one last time.

BELLE: (*crying) No! Please! Please! Don't leave me! I love you!

NARRATOR: Cogsworth embraces Mrs. Potts. Then a light beam falls. She cries
briefly, then pulls back. The beast rises and begins to transform. He is wrapped in a
gentle cloud. Claws turn into fingers. A paw becomes a foot. Finally, a breeze reveals a
young prince. He slowly falls. Then Belle touches him. It moves, she retracts her hand.
It suddenly stands and faces Belle. It has Beast's blue eyes.

BELLE: Who are you? Are you the Beast?

PRINCE: Belle! I am!

BELLE: It's you!

NARRATOR: Then they kiss. Surrounding them are fireworks. The castle becomes
surrounded by a blue sky. The gargoyles become cherubs, and the castle changes. The
objects exit the balcony to meet the Prince and Belle. One by one, they return to human
shape.

PRINCE: Cogsworth! Mrs. Potts, Look!

CHIP: Mama!

MRS. POTTS: Oh, my goodness!

LUMIERE: A miracle! We’re human again!

NARRATOR: In the ballroom, everyone has gathered to celebrate, and Prince and Belle
are seen dancing around the room.

CHIP: Are they going to live happily, mama?

MRS. POTTS: Of course, my dear. It definitely is.

NARRATOR: Since then, the castle is now overflowing with beautiful memories that
everyone will remember and carry with them throughout their lives. Belle and the prince
live with full of love that makes their relationship a happy ending to their story.
CHORUS: Certain as the sun, rising in the east, tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme,
beauty and the beast! Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, beauty and the beast!
