Answer the following question:

a. What is the article all about?

The title of the article is “ Data security vs Data Privacy: an imperative distinction to protect data” from
the title itself, it discusses the Data security and privacy and its imperative distinction to protect the data,
it gives an insight about how our digital world really need to be more secured and safer in the greater
scale and at the same time, protects the personal information of the user in order to avoid loss of data
and to have better protection practices.

In the second paragraph it discusses how complex data security could be, and the challenges it
deals in day to day basis, it explains how crucial data security is for organization and thus they should
know the difference between data security and the data privacy. It also stresses on how they can
develop a working strategy that governs and monitors the data security and data privacy.

In the third paragraph, the author explains and define the word data security, as of reading, data
security is referred as confidential, availability, integrity of the information given. And the
implementation of the practices and procedures to handle data against many possible harms such as
cyber attack, data loss, data breaches and many more. In this side of the article the author explains that
the data security ensures that the data should be accurate and reliable and always available for the
authorized user . It also discusses all the possible solutions and plan that we can use to ensure the safety
of the data

While on the fourth paragraph, it discusses data privacy, according to this article, data privacy is
concerned about the procedures and policies that they implemented on the Personally identified
information (PII). It also talks about the rules and regulation and that the personal and private data are
being controlled by a concerned individual

While in the last part of the article, is all about how data privacy wont work without the help of data
security, it gives us insight and idea about the distinction of the two important factors about data safe
guard, furthermore, the last part explains the definition of data security and data privacy and how were
they different from each other. Therefore according to the article data security can be achieved without
data privacy, however data privacy cannot work well without data security

b. Why do you think it is important to know the difference between data security and data
privacy based on the article?

Because both of them sounds the same, and they looks like they do the same things, and they were just
called differently, but the truth is it is not, both of them are truly used to secure data but each of them
have their own attributes and different degree of contribution, The reality here is that we need to know
what are their differences in order to know what needs to be focused on, when it comes on securing
your personal information and data. If you read the article, it tells that data security refers to
confidentiality, availability, and integrity of information while on the other hand, data privacy is
concerned with procedures and policies that governs the collection, storage, sharing and usage. Given
the fact and differences of the two. We should really know the difference in order to have a preference
and depth understanding of what they can do on the data. So yes, it is important to know the difference
to avoid confusion about the definition of the two. In my Verdict data privacy is all about how to handle,
collect, use and maintain while on the contrary the data security is about how to access and protecting

data from malicious and unauthorized users. So we should not be confused about the two since in the
ears of the people who don’t know, they kind of do the same thing but truly they do not and have their
own contribution on the safety of your data and information.

c. Do you agree with the article why? Or why not?

Yes, because nowadays, there plenty of user are having loss of data, because many organization believe
that their data security and policy covers data privacy and vice versa. But the truth is based on this
article they are still confused about the definition of the two, therefor we should really understand and
comprehend the definition and contribution that both of them can give.

The article also talks about how there are many malicious way to manipulate your data by just
looking at the loop holes and flaws on the data security and thus they can use various steps to breath
the security. So we should be knowledgeable on how to manage and secure our privacy and maintain
the correct regulation implemented on our system.

For instances, based on the given example in the article. The best way to understand the distinction
between data security and data privacy is to consider the mechanism used in both cases. An organization
might have an effective and robust data security, yet the procedures and processes by which
information was collected and handled might violate the privacy policy. And therefore it gives a correct
example on why should we put our minds on the difference of the two and we should also set our
boundary so that we can avoid on being too much
