All the Android users are well versed with the slowing down of their device after a certain

period of
time. Screen freeze , hanging up of apps, increased load time and other related problems immerge.
If your slowed Android annoys you then you must know it’s completely normal.

Not only Android users but iOS users even feel the same thar there device slows even after updating
to a new version of iOS in their old Apple device. But the solution to this problem changes according
to the OS, so below are some reasons and list to cope up with this lag on your device.

Higher resources are utilized by Operating System And Apps

You must have tapped on the Android operating System updates in your notification at least once in
a while, thus your software must have modified from its previous version which may not be as
optimized as it was before. Another reason may be the inclusion of unwanted software or updates in
you Operating System, which may cause things to slow down while running in the background.

What if your Android hasn’t received the system updates notification and how can you get one?

A system update notification may have never popped on your device but still the apps on your
Android are updated. The system updates made available to the user may be developed while
thinking of the upcoming faster devices and may be much compatible with them, thus these updates
may not work as efficiently as they should on older device. This problem is faced on almost every
kind of device that includes software and hardware. With advancement in technology over the years
software, apps, website require much storage space, occupy more memory. For ex – one may not be
still using Microsoft 2010 on its PC. Users demand more features and technologies with every
update. Similarly Android Apps are also upgraded with more innovative features.

Use the lighter version of the Apps on your Android

Though there isn’t much to options available to resolve this still if the slow operating system annoys
you, you can go for a customized version of the OS wherein you update or download only those
specified software which is required by the System. But the issue with this is that it requires much
technological skills and could be difficult to implement for normal users. The easier method is to go
for the lite version of the apps that occupy less storage space.
Apps running in the background can also decelerate the speed of your Device

Most of the apps are built such that they can run in the background or may automatically run on
boot up. In case your Android has a bunch of apps that utilize resource in the background, may
increase the CPU consumption, take up a lot of memory and heat up the device resulting in a slow
performance.

Live wallpapers, too much graphics, variety of tools activated on the Android also occupy memory,
hold up other resources and reduces battery life. Reduce such clutter from your device and you’ll
notice a significant change it the functioning of your device.
How to fix- Remove clutter from your device such as uninstalling unwanted apps or disabling useless
built-in apps, avoiding fancy wallpapers or fancy tools on the home and lock screen. Disable the Run
in Background option for the apps by going on the App Manager in the Settings (on Marshmallow or
higher versions). Alternatively you can also disable or uninstall apps that occupy to much memory
and are not even useful. Try going for a similar app with lesser memory requirement.

The process of adding files to the file system on the disk space becomes slow as the Hard disk drive
or solid-state drives are crowded with unwanted apps and software. Thus resulting in the slow
performance and speed of the device. One can check the disk usage of their device by clicking on the
Settings where the complete usage by every app is shown in bar chart forms or in a pie chart form.

Your device also has a separate storage area for the temporarily required files of the device. These
files are known as cache files. Piling up of such cache files if allowed can cause a poor system
performance and unsolicited disk lodging. Clearing up of such files are very important. You can either
manually delete them or can use some lightweight clutter clearing apps.

Today’s gen Z has a craze for capturing every moment whose price is paid by the performance of
your device. Too much of photos and videos in your gallery hinder the system’s functionality. It’s
usually a better idea to remove undesired or duplicate photos and videos from the system. It is
usually a better idea to store your pictures on the cloud storage or can backup for free on goggle
photos.

up the temporary data from the apps to release some disk space. An easy way to do so is to just click
on the factory reset button and again download only those apps that are needed by you. This
refreshes your device in just a few clicks like newly bought.

To check for the cached data thus hold that particular app for a sec and a pop up will appear. Click
on App Info. There you will find a section for cache data which also shows the amount of cache data
in KBs. Just click on that and it will prompt you to remove. Tap OK and you are all done. This process
may be different for different devices.

As mentioned earlier things differ with different Android versions. Thus a significantly more tedious
process is involved on Android Oreo as Google has replaced the viewing of cached data option with a
more complex yet easy to get user interface. The storage menu is now more interactive with much
more advance options than in the older versions of Android and is still available in the Settings of
your Device. Now the cached files are separate for each of the apps and can be cleared by going
onto that particular section or clicking on the “Other Apps” option

What not to do

We have already learned how to speed up the performance but what are the points that should not
be done so that the device maintains its performance even after ages. This could be explained in
layman’s language as not to kill or abort task.

You may think at first that it’s weird to say not to use task killers as people have a perception that
task killers speed up the system performance and increase system productivity. But it’s not so as task
killers can sometime even abort important background task. Though how so ever you feel irritated
with your slothy device believe us and take our advice never depend on task killers for increasing
system performance.

Just a click on the factory reset button. It will delete all the apps and data on your device. The next
step is just to install only those apps which are required by you. Though bloatware issues won’t be
solved by this still it will aid in the system productivity. For example- reinstalling an Operating system
can repair a sluggish device.
