Q. What is the significance for Muslims to have the Quran written
in the form of a book
(b) With the Quran in compiled form, Muslims can handle it in an easier way as all contents
are available in a single volume. They now follow the “order of recitation” of its Surahs
while completing its recitation on such occasions as the Tarawih prayer of Ramadan when
several readings of the Quran are made throughout the Muslim world. The compiled
version of Quran is an example of [jma of the Muslim world as a uniform text of the
Quran is available to all. A Muslim does not have to be a Hafiz in order to recite the

Quran as he is required to be familiar with reading the Arabic text. With the availability
of the Quran online, a Muslim may easily locate and recite any selected Surah or verse.
Translation and commentaries on the Quran are easier to write by availing it in a book
form. Finally, the compilation testifies to God‟s promise of keeping it incorruptible,

“We indeed sent down the Message and we will surely guard it (against corruption).”

Q. Why are belief and action both important for Muslim. Give reasons to
support your answer.
(b) Belief and action are intimately linked to each other. For this reason the Quran often
mentions them together so that its readers can understand this relationship. For ex-
ample it says,
“Indeed humankind is in loss. Except for those who believe, and do good...”
(103:2-3, al-„Asr).
A belief can be proved genuine only by putting it into action as otherwise, a fake claim
of belief is a sign of hypocrisy. Since Muslims are required to believe in One invisible
God, and the Unseen, they should demonstrate such beliefs by worshiping and obeying
His dictates. They are first taught the articles of faith, and then instructed to observe
the five pillars. Similarly, they prove purity of belief by dealing fairly with fellow humans.

Q.Give one example where using Ijma or Qiyas has been significant for
Muslims today.

(b) Ijma‟ is the third source of Islamic legal thinking, and is used when the primary sources
(Quran and Sunnah/Hadith) do not provide a direct solution/answer to a new situation.

[t means consensus of Muslims (companions of the Prophet (SAW), Muslim scholarly

community or the whole Muslim Ummah) on a new challenging issue about which primary

source are silent. The Quran prohibits adultery and fornication, with all their shades as,

“Nor come near adultery for it is a shameful deed and an evil opening the road (to other
evils like an illegitimate child)” (17:32, al- Isra).

This verse prohibits surrogacy or womb renting in which a woman volunteers herself to
be conceived by the fertilized egg containing sperm of a man and his wife. All Muslim

scholars declared it a Haram act by exercising Ijma, “It is illegal and immoral to introduce

into a woman the sperm of any man other than her husband.”

Q.Why was so much importance given to collecting and preserving authentic.
Hadith

(b) Ahadith are the most effective means of interpreting the Quranic teachings. The major
collectors made sure that the Hadith, in no way, should be in clash with the Quran.

So, it is very important that the Quranic teachings should be conveyed to the Muslims
through authentic Ahadith only. In case, the unauthentic or fabricated Ahadith were
relied on, together with the Quran. The legal experts might have faced serious difficulties in
working out details of Islamic law.if at all any laws had been made by linking the weak or
unauthentic Hadith with the Quranic injunctions, the community in general would have been
misguide, the Quran the regard lays down a clear injunctions about the intimate relationship
between the Quran and the Shih\ Hadith “So believe in God and His Messenger SAW, The
unlettered Prophet SAW who believes in God and his word; follow him so you may be guided”
.
